When Things Go Terribly Wrong

Updated on July 3, 2014

Unfortunately They Sometimes Do

The unexplainable

When everything is going so close to perfect

In a not so perfect world

There is a bump in the road

That bump could be a little one

Then again it can be a mountain

Either way we have to go over it

Around it

Even climb it

We have to do what it takes

It's not fun, easy or anything pleasant

Most times it is down right annoying

After it is said and done

Talked about years to come

We have a tendency to over exaggerate the truth

Make it seem worse than it was

In some way feel branded like life has left it's mark

For all to see

To my surprise

Nobody really cares but me

So the faster you move on with life

The easier it is to focus on the good

Not the bad that dragged you down

Like those pants that need a belt

You keep pulling up

The cuffs of your pants keep scraping against the ground

As many times as you try

They keep falling

Soon the pants are dirty

They can be washed

No big deal

If it continues to happen again and again

Those pants that you love will be ruined

What does it take to change their fate

A little effort to get a belt this time

Next time the problem at hand could be a little bigger

Most problems don't go away

There is no magic wand or genies lamp to rub

But wouldn't that be nice

Instead we are given choices and we have to decide

As we pick one solution over the other

The problem might be solved

More often than not it might only be a temporary condition

That needs further investigation

We can ask friends for help

They will offer their assistance but remember it is your problem

They also have a series of their own problems

Don't forget to help them out too

So as we learn and make mistakes

We make it through this day

Some how some way

I am still struggling but I am trying to make small corrections in my life

To bring about promise and a touch of light

Confusing as it may be

I know I have sat here before in pain and in misery

So I will keep thinking till I find a way

Because that is what we all learn to do

So when your day goes smooth without a hitch

Enjoy it with many days that follow

Once in awhile you may hit a snag

I like to think of it as if I was fishing

I was having so much fun

Now my line is stuck

If I pull to hard my line will break

I will loose my hook line and sinker

If I wait and pull on it easy

Sometimes my line becomes free

I lacked patience and pulled real fast

Now I have to replace my hook and sinker again

Not the best choice

Which one would you choose ?

I am always open for suggestions

Do you know a better way ?

I would love to hear it anytime today

Wishing you a carefree good afternoon

I hope to join you soon

Gypsy Rose Lee I do the same thing. Even if my situation doesn't change, I keep practicing until I feel better. I know there is a solution out there with my name on it. Your nice comments brighten my day. Thank you.

When things go terribly wrong I think of good times and things to smile about. I take a deep breath, say a prayer and soon I'm feeling so much better.

annart There is something great about writing that shares our inner thoughts. Then as we take action our body gets to feel the real activity. Thank you for reading my e-mail. I enjoy reading billybuc's hubs very much. The hubpages is a wonderful place to meet so many interesting people from all walks of life. Having different opinions on many subjects gives each of us a new outlook we have never seen before. Thank you it is not always what is said but another persons thoughts that bring creativity to light. Thank you for your time and I look forward to reading many more of your stories. Have a great day.

Have just received your email, thanks. As for tips for writing, I'm not sure I can put it all into written advice; it comes with practice and reading good writers' work.

If you want really good pointers and advice about writing, then I'd recommend you go to billybuc's hubs. He has so many excellent hubs on how to write - anything I said would only, at best, come close to his expert tuition.

Write about riding your bike, then go out and feel the freedom of riding that bike again! Ann

annart I often try to solve one problem and create another. So if I could give any advice do the opposite of what I do and you might find a good solution. Life is not what people think winning or losing but see who can laugh the most and finally gets the last laugh. Thank you for reading and commenting. It means a great deal to me. I am often torn between my feelings and my actions. Both are different. I want to go ride my bike. Then I want to write about how much I love riding my bike when I was younger. Both take up time and concentration. One I have done many times and one I have but one time to get it right. Which one do you think I will choose ?

Light-hearted but serious too! A charming poem which makes us think about how we tackle everyday life.

It's about doing things when we need to, with thought as to what's best. Your message is an important one which all of us should take to heart. Ann

janshares I will continue to do what you say because it works and it helps so much. I often get overwhelmed by things I want to do and if I am not careful I will try to do something that just distracts me from my current situation. Like watching t.v. reading many different hubs or reading a book. It won't solve my problem but it is so relaxing. I try to write my problems out even then they can be a little too much to handle. Then once and awhile I get a sign of a solution I didn't see. I love what that happens. Other times I throw myself into yard work or house cleaning to vent. Unusual as it may be it works for me. Thank you for your encouragement and wonderful comments.

Great soliloquy, DREAM ON. I love your use of the pants and fishing metaphors. I've been having a few weeks like this with things going terribly wrong so I can relate to this poem well. When it gets hard I pray, breathe, and try to stay focused on what's going right and ask myself, "Is this really an emergency?" Thank you for this one, voted up and useful.
