Two Worlds - a poem

Updated on December 9, 2012

When our two worlds collided it seemed there were

Two suns in the sky, everything was brighter

And warmer and the nights glowed with two full moons

But now it seems the heat of two suns is too much for one day

And the moonshine is pulling the tides apart.

When our two worlds collided our songs

Filled the air, our tastes swam beside each other and added to

And complemented our lives for a fuller scope but now it seems

The notes have found discordant paths and the air is full of cacophony.

When our two worlds collided it seemed there were

New paths that filled our worlds with new wonders

But now those paths are barred and the only wonder is why?

And now astronomers search the skies for other worlds

For stars more compatible, for constellations of harmony

And you’ve landed on other planets and walk on new moon rock

But I float in space cartwheeling in darkness looking at upside down stars

Because when our two worlds collided it cancelled gravity

And left a light trace of a bright thing in the cosmos, it was spectacular

For just a while heavenly choirs sang, nectar poured from the hills

Our ellipses joined and forged ahead but now it seems

This was just physics building the energy to spin our worlds

To new trajectories, when our worlds collided it seemed it was meant to be

And now it seems it was just a quirk of chaos, an episode of entropy.
