When You Miss The Bus All You Can Do Is Wait For The Next One

Updated on March 5, 2013

This Gives us Time To Think

How and why did this happen?

I started out my day just like any other day

Planning what I have to do and doing it the best I can

Then before I knew it I was running late and still thinking I could make it

I ran as fast as I could to the bus stop

I talked myself into believing this will be one of those days

Where I cut it real close but I can do it

I have in the past with less time than today

Then sure enough I could see the bus

But the bus didn't see me

Why wasn't I just two minutes earlier and then I would be there already

If I just got out of the shower a little bit earlier

I could of skipped washing my hair

They say you are not suppose to wash it every day

But it feels so good I do it anyway

They say it is bad for your hair follicles and scalp

You end up stripping all the oils out

Well if I didn't hit the snooze alarm for the second time

That was only because I stayed up watching that movie

It was so good I had to see it

I could of watched it another time

Well I was sick last week and had a touch of a cold

So that's why i haven't been myself and full of energy

Hey hey can't you see me I am running for the bus

I am yelling to you

I know you have a schedule to keep and you can't keep all the other passengers waiting

They made it on time and why can't I

Well you have heard me say before it won't happen again

But then it does

Life happens and all we can do it react the best we can

Try to make it work and try to iive a better day than yesterday

Well this is not my day

As my hand slowly drops

I soon stop running and come to a complete stop

Catching my breath and shaking my head

The bus continues on without me

I put my head down

Looking at the ground and laughing

If I didn't miss the bus I wouldn't of looked down at the ground

I wouldn't of seen this shiny copper penny

As i reached down topick it up I thought what kind of lucky penny is this

Then I looked up and I thought maybe the rest of my day will go better

I looked and then looked again

I couldn't believe my eyes the bus has stopped

The bus finally stopped

Instantly all my thoughts have become positive again

I started running as fast as I can

When I reached the bus I was out of breath

The bus door was open

I reached my hand inside the door

Today is your lucky day said the stern faced bus driver

You can say I am twice as lucky today

I smile and the bus driver shakes his head

We don't have all day

The bus door shuts as I shuffle my feet

The bus already moving and my feet begin to slide and then I reach for the only empty seat

I plop my body down and think what a morning it has been

billybuc I never heard that but I will make sure I tell God my plans every day.I think God also loves a good joke once and awhile to change and make our days more interesting so we never get bored.

You know the old joke: if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans for the day. :) You captured it perfectly.

Dream On: I JUST LOVED THIS. I was right there with you, chasing the bus! I could feel your frustration...and the PENNY! I find coins all the time, I have every one in jars...and I will probably write a hub about it some day...but your penny story is extremely significant. You should try to get this story published...so simple, but says so much about the art of living! Voted up and awesome. Blessings, Sparklea :)

Hmmm interesting how ones day can still be so baffled even though they think their day is well organized.
