When Your Answer is Not the Answer (Be Still and Know He is God- a Poem)

Updated on January 1, 2016

When Your Answer is Not the Answer (Poem & a Testimony)

I asked Him to teach me,

what He did is show me,

I asked Him for strength,

what He did is break me,

I asked Him for clarity,

what He did is test me

I asked Him to heal me,

what He did is inflict me,

I asked Him to bless me,

what He did is empty me

I wanted answers,

He wanted faith,

I wanted now,

He wanted to wait,

I wanted relief,

He wanted grief,

I wanted things that will fade,

He wanted me to trust in His name;

"Oh my child, be still and patiently wait."

He showed me to teach me,

He broke me for Him to be my strength,

He tested me to create in me a heart that thrives even in the absence of clarity

He inflicted me to heal my doubting spirit,

He emptied me to fill me with riches untold,

For all that He is, is what satisfies my soul.

Soli Deo Gloria!

This is a classic! I really like it and the message is so appropriate as we send up our New Year prayers! Excellent!
