When were aliens first mentioned?

Updated on June 21, 2019

Fact or fiction?

This is a subject that can split off into hundreds of different conversations and questions because extra-terrestrials have been discussed for centuries. From ancient cultures worshipping deities of the skies to modern day films of alien creatures causing chaos on earth, they've been in our histories for a long time. Whether it’s fantasy or fiction is up to you, but this is a topic that's still undecided by many.

But what if it's all in our heads?

The human brain is incredibly complex so could it be more likely that people who claim to have been abducted by aliens are not actually seeing reality as they believe. For example, sleep paralysis could be one way of explaining most encounters.

God theory

This is a theory that I can agree with, and you don’t have to agree with it of course, but what if aliens or extra-terrestrials are what started the whole concept of ‘gods’.

A lot of the ancient civilizations were fascinated with the night sky, and I can understand why they would think their deities came from the heavens above, but maybe there’s more to it?

Let’s say centuries ago aliens visited our planet, and because of their advanced technology, our kind thought - hmm, they have magical powers, let's worship them. And maybe that is what started the idea of ‘gods’. But hey, that is just a theory. Maybe extra-terrestrials are a new concept created by creative and brilliant minds. It is always fun to keep an open mind though and coming up with your own theories is fun. This is a universe of unlimited possibilities… I think.

My thoughts on aliens

It would be silly to think that we are the only intelligent life (debatable) in this universe and with the stories from cultures long gone we can’t really think that all of this is just from their imaginations. Our planet holds so many mysteries, our solar system does too, so can you imagine what the universe has to offer: a never-ending place of mysterious planets and solar systems that we don’t even know about. And I’m sure there are things out there that our brains couldn’t comprehend. There must be some sort of truth to it all.

The biggest question that I have been curious about is when were extra-terrestrials first mentioned? I don’t mean the cliché little green men or the greys or whatever else the media interprets extra-terrestrials to look like. I mean beings like ourselves: intelligent, conscious, knowledgeable beings.

What are your thoughts?

What are your thoughts? Do you believe we’ve been visited by other intelligent beings? Have you read or heard anything about the first mention of aliens? If so, drop a comment down below and let us know. Thanks for reading. Until next time, take care.
