"Where Does It All Go?"

Away

I can't recall

Revisiting

The past; proceeds me

Sitting in a chair that wasn't there

I stare off the ghosts

Remainders; carried over from past equations

Resulting in the same conclusion

All memory is equal to illusion

Magic moments when the universe is shining just for you

Manufactured mirages orchestrated by many the maestro

A magnum opus; playing out

Time and time again

Time and time again

Time and time again

Repeating the same mistake

Continuously biting the apple, coerced by the snake

History lessens; throwing time for a loop

Bringing it to our doorstep

Soliciting us with choices that we don't have

It makes them for us

Such a nice time

Here we are, here we is, here I am, here I was

Ready to take a shower

Cleaning up my act

I see my reflection through the steam

Have I been here before or is it all a dream?

A chubby boy staring at a man

Getting to this day, that was the plan

Melting away my flesh

Scalding my self

Taking care, a care taker, waiting for something to take care of me

Curling up in a ball

Going backwards to go forwards

Knocking the earth off kilter

Kicking it's axis and taking names

Washing off guilt manifested in aches and pains

Watching them dissolve slowly down the drain

Evaporating in the sun and coming down again as rain

Swimming in the ocean

I lap it up

Relishing in my victory

How does it all end?

Where does it all go?

I wait, out to sea

Ready for the universe to smile at me again

Hypnotizing me with hope

Slipping away, spacing out

Eventually coming back to earth

Carrying my shovel and whistling

Falling into my dirt hole; the one we all dig ourselves

Amazing and insightful words Eric. Where does it all go, and why don't we learn from the past?

Thanks Jodah, "If we don't learn from our past were destined to repeat it", I'll be damn if that ain't the truth. Where does it all go, it seems all for naught at times, but I still like to whistle.

Unfeigned and very loamy!... I love it.

      "...Relishing, ...scalding...melting...going backwards...knocking ...kicking...slipping...falling..."

You know how to dig up the best stuff in all of us!

Hi Eric, this poem really spoke to me! Very well written, as the reader can feel the discontent & agony of repeated mistakes. I look forward to visiting your world of poetry again!

On a funny note, I read a quote online: "I`ve learnt so much from my mistakes, I`m thinking of making a few more" ha ha

Hi Pearl, this poem is even more so about how we are destined to make the exact mistakes we do, not only as people or individuals but as a human race. Thanks for stopping by and the kind words.

@Eric Yeap, I could sense the broader intentions of the piece, however you could say I interpreted it through the eyes of my current personal state :)

Hi Pearl, your personal equates to our universal outcome, we are all in the same boat. Thanks again for stopping by.
