Where Guilt May Go

Updated on August 12, 2012

It’s time to find your place
But is it the walk or the stop?
You ride in a carriage of dreams
Is it time for you to get off?

You built your throne for one
Everyone else has to build their own
You have a reason as you carry on
And you continue to where you are drawn

The feeling of thought is more real than a cut
For what heals on the flesh lives on in the mind
We discard the bodies of those we conquer
Because pain is the only thing we can find

I drew you near when I had no place to turn
And what you saw was what you wanted to escape
You can never find a cure for a life of suffering
But two people can share the same fate

On my way to the funeral of our nights together
I realized how our travels are all that we know
If you could only love me for yourself
So the guilt of my pleasure will know which way to go

That sounds so - plaintive, and sincere! Beautifully done, Mark.
