Where I belong (No Joy In My Heart)

Updated on July 1, 2013

For a slice of happiness I'd give my soul,

but I see joy in many places,

like happy fruit in a happy bowl,

the summer sun on happy faces.

I've been on a journey,

now I'm going home,

to the country of my heart,

where at-least I belong.

I see joy all around me,

it flutters like the breeze,

but joy is never given for free,

doesn't come when you say please.

I've been on a journey,

now I'm going home,

to the country of my heart,

where at-least I belong.

When I see others happy I cry,

tears of regret and pain,

I get a lump in my throat, followed by a needy sigh,

tears roll away in the rain.

I've been on a journey,

now I'm going home,

to the country of my heart,

where at-least I belong.

All my life I've wondered,

marvelled at the view,

how others joy is squandered,

to other's it's all brand new.

I've been on a journey,

now I'm going home,

to the country of my heart,

where at-least I belong.

Now my life's in twilight,

I look back across the years,

there's not much happiness with words of spite,

that's ringing in my ears.

I've been on a journey,

now I'm going home,

to the country of my heart,

where at-least I belong.
