Where This Man Fears to Tread

By Tony DeLorger © 2013

Tempting as they may be,

I cannot find peace within the dogmas of my compatriots,

the beliefs set out by minds as mine,

with all the considerations, biases and propensities of individuals,

to be accepted on mass as truth.

My mind cannot accept the selflessness of rules and rituals,

designed in part to achieve political oppression and control,

in the name of a deity or any philosophical ideal,

that by nature limits any questioning or discovery,

or anything that affords more knowledge and therefore re-assesses reality.

It is a travesty that 'faith' as a concept,

is proffered to be the way to accept illusion over reality,

when reality can only ever be a result of experience,

the knowing of truth, not an assumption,

but a heart felt experience, accepted.

Many roads lead to a peaceful and giving heart,

and I begrudge no-one their choice in path and destination,

but so often illusions become so much more important than reality,

and can cause a soul to lose track of what is real and present in their life,

rather than assumptions of a serene future.

Spiritual and emotional growth,

depends not on any religion or belief, but more on an open heart,

a soul living in the presence of love and enacting kindness to all life,

without judgement, assumption or adherence to any doctrine,

and in doing so, the experiences that ensue, determine understanding and belief.
