Poems for children
Children love poems too! When I was a kid I use to love poems and still do. I still love to read kids poems because they are less serious than adult poems and they are so much fun. If you are not a poet and you have kids you might be wondering where you can find the best poems for children on the internet. Here are a few site that I found that you can let your child read poems from. Some of these sites include kids games, toys books and everything that your child may need to keep their mind active.
Kenn Nesbitt's Poetry for Kids
This site is very pretty and kid friendly, so far as I can tell, it is free to join and your child will have access to hundreds of poems for children. Inspirational, funny, family life poems and much more. There are books, games, toys and videos among the fun things that children can access. Take a tour of the site to see what they offer, read a few poems them decide if you would want you child to join.

Pitara Kids Network
This site looks a lot like the one above except for a different colour and a few other details. Not only do they have kids poems but there are stories, folk tales and books. There is a kids magazine, activiies, you name it. They also have a feature called Discover where children are exposed to science.
This site isn't very kid friendly but they do have a small collection of poems for children. They do have word games, story starters, seasonal and theme poems and couple more activities. I read a couple of the poems and I find them quite nice. Try this site and see if you like the kids poems.
Fizzy Funny Fuzzy!
The first thing I noticed about this site was the animation. There are kids poems that you can listen to, download or just read. There are poems about almost anything you can think of including themes poems. I like this site and it is kid friendly. You can get newly published poems for children in the mail by joining the mailing list but I do believe that access to the site is free.
This site makes poetry fun for kids by giving them poetry activities like fill in the blank. Reading the featured poem on the home page I can see why this site is called giggle poems and there is a giggle meter for you to rate the "giggleness" or "giggle-ability" of the poem...okay so I made up the words...lol.
These are my favorite sites so far and I know you are wondering if I read poems for kids too and the answer is...yes I do! Encourage your kids to read more and poetry is a fun way to do that. If they already love poems then there is your motivation to get them to have some fun with the art.
You can read the poems to the smaller children at bedtime and the older ones can read to you. Have fun with these sites and I will update with other sites as I find them. Thanks for stopping by.
