The Ultimate List of Superhero Powers! What Superhero Power Would You Want?

Updated on December 21, 2017

So here's a question I ask quite a bit: If you could only have ONE super power, what would it be? It's a fun question, and it always gets a good conversation going, especially at bars. This list of super hero powers presented below are the powers most of people I've asked chose.

A lot of it's pretty shocking to me, as the more traditional super powers weren't even mentioned. However, at the end you can vote for which super power you'd most like to have, and let's see which is the ULTIMATE SUPER POWER that most people would want to have.

Be sure to get your family and friends in on the fun and share this fun little game on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, or all of them.

Alright, let's have some fun here.

Time Bending

The superpower to bend time, manipulate it, and move through it to travel to the past, present, or future has made this list according to the pole below. I voted for this one as well, because this superpower would be just way too powerful.

Plus, it would be super cool to travel back in time and meet all your ancestors, even find out the truth about human evolution. Of course, if you're a villain, you could go back and change the past for your own self interests and prosperity.

A very cool and quite dangerous power. On this poll, it's the number one superpower to far!

Jean Grey (Marvel Girl) from the X-Men
Jean Grey (Marvel Girl) from the X-Men

Moving up the ranks to second place is the power of telekinesis. Why is this super power cool? The ability to move or bend objects with just your mere thoughts is pretty powerful stuff.

Not only can you deflect bullets or any other object that comes your way, but you can also hurl objects and attack your opponent from a safe distance. However, what you can move with your mind does depend on how strong your mind is. Just ask Jean Grey from the X-Men, who is one of the most powerful mutants in the X-Men universe.

All in all, this is a pretty cool superpower to have, but it does have it's negatives. Just imagine not having to get up from the couch to get a beer or anything else for that matter. That might not be such a great thing.

Power Absorption

Power Absorption has just recently been added on, and actually knocked Superhuman Strength from 3rd place and off the top list. We all love Rogue, and there's little doubt that having this superpower could make you an extremely powerful hero or dangerous villain.

Just imagine being able to touch any superhero like Superman, Wolverine, and The Hulk and be bestowed with any and all superpowers they may have. Even if it's just temporarily. Actually, I didn't clarify whether the effect was temporary or forever.

I think being able to absorb one's power temporarily seems a bit more interesting instead of permanently taking one's power. That would make for a character that's way too powerful and quite boring.

So temporarily stealing another superpower it is. Oh, yes, and one power at a time. Does this superpower still deserve 3rd place on this ultimate list? Cast your vote at the poll below if you don't think it does.

Nightcrawler from the X-Men
Nightcrawler from the X-Men

This surprisingly is the 2nd most popular super hero power that most would want to have, and don't get me wrong, it's a cool power to have. You can pretty much be anywhere you want in a flash like everyone's favorite blue, fuzzy, mutant elf - Nightcrawler. Well, without the fuzz and without being blue.

Like Nightcrawler, the movie Jumper stole the idea that the one teleporting has to be able to see his destination in order to teleport there. That's a drawback, but, hey, no power can be perfect, right?

And let's face it, there are a lot more possibilities with teleporting than there is flying, and a lot harder to track you down if you decide to use your powers for evil instead of good. I think those who chose flying forgot about how teleporting could get you there faster, and you don't have to worry about airfare and passports as well.

Top reason why most choose the super power of teleportation? They saw the movie "Jumper." Uhmmm...alrighty then.

Here's Where The Fun Begins!

Alrighty, here's where the fun really begins. Of course, this list of super powers is from my findings on the survey I conducted in a short time span. That means that the conclusions are hindered by time limit and confined to my general area since I can't teleport nor fly (bummer).

So, let's really find out what's the most popular super power to have, and I'm really surprised no one I've come across has said super human strength or super speed (the most traditional of super powers ever!)

So let's have some fun, cast your vote for only one of the super powers you'd most want to have below, and be sure to share this with your friends.

with chi control i have vibration manipulation. this grants temperature control (cold or heat), sonic energy control, phasing (and teleportation to an extent), flight, move objects, and control of bioelectricity. maybe even telepathy with others skilled in chi, and certain types of mind/memory control. boom

Telekinesis - the ability to move and bend objects with the mind is now in second place. Time bending still reigns as the ultimate superpower to have!

Heya Domenic Dicce, great choice and power to have. I love Wolverine! Thanks for the comment!

I would go with Regeneration Healing like Wolverine. I always though it would be cool to do thing physically that the body was just not meant to handle and not have to worry about permanent injury.

Time bending is still number 1!

Flight and invisibility have been knocked off the list. Teleportation has moved up on the list and Super Human Strength made the list...interesting results so far...

Vote on the super power you'd want to most have and let's see which is the Ultimate superhero power!

Thanks GreatToysMall, I enjoyed your Transformer hub as well. Probably a cool hub would be to have a poll of who's the coolest Transformer from the G1 series and then so on.

Thanks for also reminding me that round 3 is almost here, and it looks like Superhuman strength will be making the list. It also looks like Telepathy may be getting bumped off of the Ultimate Super Power to have.

Great hub! I'm totally into this kind of thing, but I guess that sort of goes without saying. Sometimes, I get so focused on what I want to write, I forget what else would be cool to write. Again, great job!

Time bending has made it to the list of one of the ultimate superpowers that most people would want! Invisibility is about to be taken off the list.

Yep, teleporting like the guy in Jumper and I should also say like Nightcrawler from the X-Men...thanks for the comment and voting for the superpower you'd most want to have Steve.

I picked teleportation, not sure why. I assume I'll be able to tell where I will be arriving at considering the speed of teleportation. The film Jumper, anyone remember that one? had a kid with those powers too.

When I was a kid flying and invisibility were the powers I dreamt off having. :)

      Voted Up and Awesome.

Why hello there again zoey24. Thank you for the comment and for the vote up, and thanks for playing the game. Precognition is actually a really cool power, and pretty useful as well. Superhuman strength is also a good pick, and well, you did pick the Hulk as one of your favorite Marvel superheroes in my other hub so that makes sense.

Thank you for the kind words, and I'm glad you like my super hero hubs...just trying to make it a bit more fun for the hubpages community.

I was going to say precognition, but that wouldn't be as much use if i didn't have the strength to stop what was due to happen. So i am going to say Super Human Strength. I love your super hero hubs, voted up :)

VGOthemeekgeek, thanks for voting and playing, and finally, a different super power...nice choice! Let's see if we can get more answers to find out which super power is the really the most popular.

I always admired Superman's ability to stop meteors and over-power his enemies -- but he always used his Super-Strength to protect the innocent and fight for peace and justice.

Heya, kids toy box, thanks for the comment. I voted for the same power. Hopefully we can get some other answers here.

Having the ability to fly could be would super human strength but if I had to pick one it would have to be the ability to manipulate and travel through time.
