Whisper From The Grave

Updated on November 09, 2015

If I am no longer of this world,

you are whats left of me.

My child and my poetry,

you are both the best of me.

My only wish is for you to flourish

and fulfill my legacy.

Only then,

can I come back to life

and rewrite my destiny....

Wow!! My first impression was of a father speaking, then I thought well maybe it's a religious write, then I realized it is both! Thank you for this inspirational write. I can't speak for the rest, but for me it was a gentle reminder of things to come. -Paul

My impression is our Father watching over his children from the heavens hoping to discover who she/he really is. Beautiful and powerful in a few short versus.

Thank you all for the positive feedback. I have seen too many times, people pass on with nothing to show for the time spent here on earth. I will not make that same mistake. If all I ever own is a pen, i'll make it work for me. We do the best we can with what we have.

Thank you Bella, it was originally supposed to be a message to my daughter but I ended up putting it in poetic form.

...well Daunte thanks very much for the 'cool' comment - and coming from an esteemed and noble poet such as yourself that is quite a honor indeed!

I absolutely love your writing and your profile introduction says it all so eloquently - I too, prefer to write outside the poetic box, so to speak, and consider myself somewhat of an anti-poet - lol lol lol - and one who tries to deconstruct and subvert the genre - so in your profile introduction I think I know where you're coming from my friend.

By the way what kind of music do you like?

Music, and the inspiration from it always is the driving force behind my writing ....

Thanks epigramman, I'm glad someone understands:) I used to be a hip hop head when I was about 12 years old. Thats when I really learned how to form a rhyme. But nowadays, I can get into any type of music. I listen for the instruments that are being used. Nothing inspires me more than the sound of silence though.

..well it sounds like you many have an affinity for the music of Jazz ....and yes I too believe in the yin and yang of sound - I live out here by the Lake in Ontario Canada - Lake Erie - so I can play my music extremely loud - lol - but as I walk out - 100 feet towards the lake - I can hear nothing but silence - what a lovely choice don't you think - and as my mum would say - listen, you can hear the silence!!!

Daunte, this poem reached chords inside of me which brought tears to my eyes. My impression was of a man who was considering the possibility of saying good-bye to the world, with his child and writings being his lasting imprints upon the world. You have every reason to stick around; believe that each and every day because I believe I made an accurate - but sad - assessment here.

What is it they say about a friend who is there when needed? Oh, yeah! The person is a friend, indeed. That's me.
