Whistle Blowin'

Updated on June 1, 2015

I hear a whistle a-blowin'

...could swear it's callin' my name.

Feelin' the restlessness growin'

did you think things would stay the same?

You tell me that you love me

that I should hang around...

You tell me that you love me

but I'm only bound

to break your lovin' heart

...don't make me finish somethin'

I don't want to start.

I know that I could love you

I know it deep inside, but

when that lovin' feelin' comes around

just makes me want to hide.

Chorus: I''ll take me a ride

...on that train

that steady whistle

done called my name...

down the dusty tracks of life

I'm bound,

destination: heartbreak town.

Babe, I'm bound to let you down

rather be on this here, train

passing flowers, woods and streams...

whiling away the hours, living out my dreams.

Chorus: I''ll take me a ride

...on that train

that steady whistle

done called my name...

down the dusty tracks of life

I'm bound,

destination: heartbreak town.

Hi, Jodah, and thank you for your support! I think I either read or heard something about Johnny Cash - that he always liked the rhythm of train wheels, and supposedly, he incorporated that rhythm into his songs. I think I hear it in a few. Interesting! He is a true legend.

Thank you for your vote up!! :0)

Cool song Essie. I love train themes..Johnny Cash songs come to mind "Folsom Prison Blues" etc, and an old tv show I used to enjoy called "Casey Jones." Well done, voted up.
