Who Are The Top Marvel Villains? Vote For Your Favorite Marvel Villain!

Updated on June 14, 2012

Marvel Comics has created some of the best heroes and villains in comic books. There's so many it will be hard to choose who are the top Marvel villains. Sure, I have my favorites, but just making a Marvel villains list of just my favorites is pretty boring.

Like with many of my hubs, I like to let fans and comic fans decide by voting for their favorite hero or villain. I've already done this with DC villains and heroes. If you're more of a DC Comic fan you can click the links below and vote for your favorite DC Comic hero or favorite DC Comics super villain.

However, I'm not just talking about any old Marvel villain here. I'm talking about the most ruthless and cunning. The most sadistic and the baddest of the bad here. The villains who have put our heroes to the test time after time and caused them nothing but grief like The Green Goblin and Venom for Spider-Man. Or, The Red Skull for good ole Captain America.

I'm talking about the elite of the elite Marvel Comic villains. The absolute top five, and that's what we're going to find out here. Will Magneto be on that list and will he survive on this top 5 Marvel villains list? It's up to you!

Because there's an extremely large amount of Marvel villains, I'll just go with the most popular and well-known. This means the main-stream villains here. No alternative universes or anything crazy.

Rules of the Game To Find Out The Ultimate Marvel Villain

Okay, in order to make the top 5 Marvel villains list, I am going to start off with my 5 top Marvel Comic villains. However, this can be changed by your votes.

Once a villain reaches a high percentage on the poll that's already not on the list, he or she will be put on there, and those of my top 5 who are lacking votes will be taken off.

Nevertheless, any one of my top 5 Marvel villains can stay on this list if there are people also voting for them. This top 5 Marvel villains list will be constantly changing. You determine the results with your votes! Got it? Good!

Here's the top 5 Marvel villains so far:

Loki

The half-brother of Thor and actual son of the leader of Asgard's feared enemy, Laufey, of the Frost Giants, Loki the Lord of Mischief has always had a distinguished resentment and jealousy of Thor. This hatred of his brother has led Loki to commit malicious acts towards Thor.

Loki has a relentless pursuit of power and revenge, using his extensive knowledge of sorcery to take control of Asgard and destroy Thor. The God of Mischief's schemes for power also extended to earth, and he was able to manipulate the Incredible Hulk to nearly destroy Earth's Mightiest Heroes - The Avengers.

Cunning, malicious, and determined to rule Asgard, Loki's single-minded hatred and jealousy towards Thor and Odin has made him one of the most dangerous and top Marvel villains of all time.

Dr. Doom

Dr. Doom has dethroned Magneto and Venom and is so far the most badass villain in the Marvel Universe, according to the poll below. Victor Von Doom is has been created major mischief for the Fantastic Four since issue #5.

Not only is this guy king (so far) on this poll of the Top Marvel Villains of all time, he's also the king of the nation of Latveria in the Marvel Universe. Hey, a whole nation behind you? Pretty bad ass!

Dr. Doom is a genius like Reed Richards. Actually, he is considered to be one of the most intelligent humans on the planet. Able to make astounding machines and weapons, Doom's armor augments and enhances his strength to superhuman levels, enough to throw down with Spider-Man in hand-to-hand combat.

His super intellectual and genius mind has been able to concoct all sorts of devices and schemes to wreak havoc on the world and cause major headaches for elite super powered groups like the Fantastic Four, The Avengers, and The X-Men.

His only weakness is his arrogance and pride. This was first seen in his origin, in which Reed Richards and him went to college together. When Reed Richards warned Doom on miscalculations for a device that he was working on, Doom ignored Richard's warning and it the experiment ultimately blew up and disfigured Victor Von Doom.

Dr. Doom has since blamed Reed Richards for that accident and been his greatest foe since. Villainy may hold many names, but one name that's always remembered is Dr. Doom!

Venom - Eddie Brock

Venom has to be one of Spider-Man's most creepy foes. Partly because he's an extremely twisted and venomous version of the Webhead himself. Actually, Venom is an alien symbiote. The alien symbiote attaches itself to a host and endows the host with enhanced powers.

The symbiote also takes on or adapts to the hosts abilities as well, which it did with Spider-Man or Peter Parker. When the Venom symbiote bonded with Eddie Brock, the symbiotes hatred for Spider-Man's was amplified by Eddie's mutual hatred for the Web-Slinger.

Like the Green Goblin, the rivalry with Spider-Man is a personal vendetta to Venom, and we all know that when it becomes personal, it becomes a blood feud that can only end in mayhem. Venom has done more than that in making Spider-Man and Peter Parker's life a living hell often.

You are quite correct Geekdom in terms of Loki being the top Marvel villain because the Avengers movie. I had a poll of who was the top Marvel Superhero with a Marvel female superhero poll, and Black Widow skyrocketed shortly after the Avengers hit in that movie.

I am guessing that my hubs are reaching more movie fans than actual comic book fans. Great choice with the Green Goblin, such an iconic Spidey villain.

This is a fun hub. Nice way to get interaction. I voted for Green Goblin because of the role Norman Osborn has played in the Marvel Comic Universe. I feel Loki is getting more votes because of the Avengers and Thor movies but he is still deserving candidate.

Great choice Ironman...I like Venom immensely. Amazing Spider-Man #300 was one the first comics I bought as a kid. He's a great Spider-Man villain no doubt.

Voted for Venom! He's creepy, obsessive, tricky, powerful and was a real pain for Peter Parker/Spiderman. The animistic part of him also made it very good.

I'd probably come closest to saying Venom. I always thought he was one of the most unique spiderman villians.

That's cool Steve...Magneto is a good choice. I agree it must really be fun trying to come up with a name for a superhero or supervillain. Thanks again for voting and it seems Magneto is staying on the list of top 5 Marvel villains!

I picked Magneto, mostly because I liked his portrayal in the movie series. Many of the names on the list I don't recognise. It must be fun sitting down and thinking up a name for a new superhero or supervillain. It's amazing that they haven't run out of cool names for their characters in all these decades.

      Voted Up and Awesome.
