Who is noturningback

Updated on January 21, 2013

This is noturningback

About me,

But first, let me say I don't quite understand what the deception was in explaining who I am. In fact, I looked for the most appropriate category and chose gender and relationships, friendship; at least I believe that is what I chose. So now I have chosen a different category, I hope this time we will have success, I have so much more to add, but maybe you'll find out more about me through my hubs. I am getting ready to venture into new territory, my hubs will take on another side of me besides my passion for being saved and leading others to Him who can save. Keep an eye on this site, I'm not turning back now.

I was born in what was once considered a small town. This town is divided by a creek and the creek has a drawbridge. On one side of the drawbridge is the town that aspired to be a city, it is a state capital and was once the capital of the U.S. of A.

The other side, is the side that wanted to remain rural, the locals call it Eastport. This is where I come from, blue collar. Crabbers, farmers, and tradesman, those are the people of my father's heritage. On my mom's side, similar roots and even a lighthouse keeper for the Chesapeake Bay.

My life hasn't differed much from my forefathers, my dad was a plumber. My dad also was a drinker and had schizophrenia, a very bad mix, he was treated in later years for his illness, badly actually. Isolation and electro-shock therapy, so I was told by my mother. We know way to little about the human brain still I believe to be prescribing medicines we think might treat the conditions based on statistical information, sure I agree there is success, but there are always failures too. My heart goes out to families who have a member who suffers from mental illness. I have been in the military, although briefly and at a very young age. I surely was not prepared for that big a lifestyle change, but I did attempt to tough it out and made it one year before leaving with a general discharge under honorable conditions. My heart goes out to members of the military and their families as well, because I know how tough that life can be in peace time let alone when were at war.

I have done the same, with the exception of working for the state goverment after several years in the local businesses offering that service. I have worked as plumber in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, Calvert County; Maryland as well as Washington D.C., Northern Virginia and West Virginia's panhandle. I have met some very interesting people/characters in this trade and they have enriched my life in ways I never expected. There have been jobs I have worked in between these, mostly due to work shortages, or business bankruptcy, but they were relevant to the trade of plumbing, such as a stint as a roofer that had me on one job in Washington D.C. for 10 months. That was the U.S. Department of Commerce building right across from the Washington monument. There are stories from here as well as a stint at the J.Edgar Hoover FBI building in D.C. as well, I'll add those later maybe. My current employment for the state of Maryland has been since June 1992 and is my longest stretch for one employer. I have worked in three different departments Health & Mental Hygiene (my longest run) Dept. of General Services (strongest ties to the bureaucrats) and lastly an independent state agency, MD. Environmental Service.

The most interesting jobs I have worked for the state have been at a state run psychiatric hospital (now closed0 and a large, busy airport. Many friends I have made and many I have lost during these years working for the state. In this past year, I lost a dear friend of mine who seemed more like a father to me. He was tough and onry, a marine (cause once a marine always a marine, right?) but he would listen to you and if your idea sounded like mud, he would say "pig in a poke", which roughly translated means mud. He was from Georgia and he was a man of honor and integrity and my friend, I will miss him and a part of him lives on in me as well as his widow and children.

Now I ply my trade for the state under the guise of maintenance mechanic. I have had a revelation of sorts in the last few years, it concerns my future, but demands my present attention. It concerns breaking the chains of bondage of this present world. See, I grew up in public housing and though some of those memories have cemented my knowledge of what men look like at their worse. I have been in this world long enough to see man at their best too.

I was pulled from that neighborhood of hopelessness and despair to do more of those things that men do at their best. That is to provide hope, where there seemed to be none and to point others towards Truth, where before there had only been only lies.

My name is Robert and I am a Co-heir with Christ.

Now that you know a bit about me, I am going to start to add some new hubs that will hopefully help show you how to be saved in a different way and this one will be me doing the saving God willing. I told you about my plumbing/mechanical background and I noticed there is good information already here, but it is lacking something and that something is me.

I am going to start a new hub soon that will ask for you to comment on what plumbing project you might want to tackle and if I get enough response I will go with the suggestion that is repeated more than once, if not, I'll chose one in the hopes others will mention my attitude of servitude to others and it will then catch on I hope like wildfire.

So I will chat with you later. Ciao for now.

And in the Holy Spirit, as well.

We couldn't have met (considering the 10s of thousands of hubs and hubbers) had it not been God's will and Christ's love.

I'm so happy for you hearing that you just came from a holiness retreat. Am sure your spirit will bless those around you.

      Many blessing to you too!

Hello Quirinus, men together. That has great ring to it when brought together through the love of Christ.

I have just come home from a men's holiness retreat where the theme was to step up to the plate. Repent and walk away from temptations. Proverbs 4:15 and 1 Corinthians 10:13

Thank you for stopping by and glad to know we are in the company of our Father and Christ. ?

Again thanks for commenting Dave, yes indeed you wre not mistaken. As you have probably read, Hubpages thought I was deceiving in the previous hub, so they declined to publish. I changed the category and presto chango, there we go.

      Thanks for re-responding.

Congratulations Robert a fantastic Biography. Seems though I read the exact same Bio before. I remember the bridge and the little town for sure.

I flipped back to your Bio for a brief moment and there it was again. WOW! Deja vu.

      Brother Dave.
