Who Will Speak for the Innocent?

Updated on November 27, 2013
who?
who?
those who care.
those who care.
when will we learn?
when will we learn?
There's strength in our unity!
There's strength in our unity!
It is time we stood together!
It is time we stood together!

Who will speak for the weak, the innocent and the meek,

those to raise their voices high, in solace, then to seek?

Will we all understand someday, all are our brethren here,

each to breathe and eat and rest, all in the absence of fear?

Who will stand for the killing of fish, deaths in ocean's deep,

must we witness the loss of trees, without promises to keep?

How can we starve the innocent child, those die in their sleep?

when will we rise to say, no more, should we all be as sheep?

Shall we all continue in the ways, all self destructive, our demise,

without a single whimper or sound, those left to hear our cries?

Do we all long for better days, those once experienced long ago,

then ours is the task of change and repair, of all that we cherish so.

Whonu, this is a beautiful poem with a heart-felt message. I love the way you brought the flowers into this. Tulips are my favorite!

You are so right, it is up to us to correct the mistakes that have been made. It is only right. You'll live longer and better, too, for happiness comes with a mission.
