Why Can't I Tell You

Updated on November 29, 2015

Why is it so hard for me to say the things my heart wants me to say,

But so very, very easy to say the things that make you walk away,

There's so much I want to tell you but it always comes out wrong,

Maybe I should write it in a letter, or a poem, or a song,

Whenever you are near the words flow into my mind,

But when I open up my mouth I sound like a horse's behind,

My tongue gets tied in knots and my heart begins to race,

Then I forget all of the words when I see your pretty face,

My palms get all hot and sweaty and my mouth goes dry,

I get butterflies in my stomach when we are eye to eye,

Maybe one day soon I will be able to let you know,

How you captivate my dreams and keep my heart in tow.

I'm finding it hard not to sound like a " horses behind," but that was really sweet!
