Why Have One Piece When You Can Have Two

Updated on September 19, 2014

So Good

I thought I could let it go

An old memory when I was small

One I thought I out grew

But I was sadly mistaken

When I see a piece of cake

I can taste it

My lips start to water

Then I even have to swallow

I think it was all the years of having a birthday cake

My mother spoiled me

She use to make homemade birthday cakes every year

They were to die for

Now those cakes live in my brain

More satisfying with every bite

Just plain delicious with frosting

Now many years have passed

My mother and her scrumptious cakes are gone

That never stops me from eating the next slice I see

I think maybe this piece will taste like the others

It never does

No need to waste cake

We gave away all we could

So bite after bite

I face a real hard struggle

To do everything I can

To finish all the left overs

Of my birthday cake
