Why He Came

Updated on May 16, 2017
This child who lived in Galilee, across the wide blue ocean, to mean so much to you and me.
This child who lived in Galilee, across the wide blue ocean, to mean so much to you and me.

Our saviour was born, he, the King did scorn,

His birth, the grandest gift, all our spirits to lift.

Raised by a father, a carpenter, was so mild,

Was surely a devoted instructor for this child.

Mary, his mother, to be so loving, and keen,

Took greatest care of her child, as was seen.

Left afar, to save his life, joseph and his wife,

Over a desert of Egypt, the trip of such strife.

Herod, that king was so afraid of this child,

As he hid in plain sight, secure all the while.

The savior grew strong, learning very well,

His lessons were the future, were his to tell.

He stunned adults, his knowledge to display,

Began his journey, as a teacher, was his way.

Cast out taxes, all money so unfairly claimed,

Brought credit to the just, the others in shame.

This teacher, our saviour, healed so many in time,

His followers were listeners, given lives, sublime.

Lame all to walk. the blind see, the deaf did hear,

He led the way, changed lives, his words, so dear.

The fearful, the plotters, to decide his demise,

Freed the true criminals, our lord to despise.

They sent him to a governor, Pilate, the name,

He was sentenced to death, him to then blame.

Our savior was nailed upon a cross on that day,

His life sacrificed, as our worst sins did fly away.

His spirit abides with our father God, his to stay,

Just as our own souls will join them, as we pray.

He came to this earth, our souls to grant worth,

His future planned at the beginning of his birth.

Sacrificed on Calvary, on a harsh wooden cross,

Our Lord Jesus saved us all, his life to be as lost.

Our heavenly father, his beloved one, to be gone,

The holy spirit, that of his own son, was not alone.

Angels welcomed him to heaven's brightest shore,

Where he now sits by God, the Father, forevermore.

And one day soon He shall return riding upon a fierce white steed, cutting down the evil ones, while the rest, our souls are freed.
And one day soon He shall return riding upon a fierce white steed, cutting down the evil ones, while the rest, our souls are freed.

Beautiful article! He has always remained faithful to me, and my prayers concerning my loved ones, even when I have not remained faithful by going astray, at times. He waits for each of us with Open Arms.

      Hugs,

      Tamara

We should remember our Lord and how he gave his life for us all.

Easter marks the day this is observed. It should be observed every day in a prayer to our Creator and in thanking him for his son who saved us from our sins. Blessings to all.

Whonu, you've recorded the gospel in this one poem. Thanks for telling again the story of Jesus' life from birth to death and resurrection.
