Real Talk - Never quit writing poetry

Updated on November 23, 2013

Are Poets Angelic beings?

I write poetry therefore I am

The first thing is poetry is an art form, and so I for one love to express myself through poetic form, and have always done it since I was a child in grade school.

Poetry defines the inner and outer parameters of my entire existence on this great earth, and without having such an outlet I wouldn't feel like I was in touch with my love for this world. So I write on.

I love writing and embracing the true essence of creative words and through poetic format, mainly because it sets me apart from my normal train of thoughts, which at times can feel repulsive, and confining. My soul isn't bounded to this world alone, its somewhat tied into my physical being I do believe, but it also has a higher connection to the outer extremities of the universe, and I feel that God communicates to us all via our inner most self, which is our spirit or soul, and through poetic expression such a relation of oneness is also established for me.

Many others in this world may not believe in such things as spirituality, or having a human soul. I beg to differ actually, and I do think that being a poet, and a true one at that isn't just about words being thrown across the screen, or scribbled onto paper.

I sense that its a spiritual release just as a artist decides to take to the canvas, and spills loads of creativity from their heart and soul as well onto its surfaces with the utmost purity of self expression and care. It's also like a musician who knows all the important fibrous keys and chords they may need to gesture and strike prior to composing their musical masterpiece.

Becoming a true poet is more then meets the eye

To become a Poet Laurette though is the pivotal goal of any formal structure of the written form of this sort of literature, and so many of those in the world of academia, will drive their pens deep into the page to try their hardest to become such a thing someday. I will never place myself into such a predicament of sorts, consumed with such pressures can drive anyone crazy. However I will continue to write to my hearts desire, and with the most creative flair as I can potentially conjure up, and muster which I feel is sufficient enough to call poetry.

As a poet today, I've learned to make my own rules and as I see fit, which is also where the true poets will learn to stray, far from those confined ideals of which most English literature forms of poetry are defined to be.

Being an extreme creative writer helps me to sort out a great deal of my own errors, and this tends to play in my favor after learning how to sort out all of my mistakes. Following a set pattern and regiment of poetic structural formats is quite OK, but I prefer not to follow any of it at all, because once again my aim is targeted at establishing true freedom of heart, mind and soul.

I will never quit as a poet

Looking to earn an online income isn't the only motivation for us poets and creative writers. We seek to help the world change for the better, and so its not always about earnings. People today may look at us and think, "Why do they write so much, and why all of that nonsense poetry?"

Well, the reasons are very obvious, and its because we need to express ourselves in a differing format. Those folks who have no idea what we are writing about, tend to not care the most, and some may give our creative writing form the time of day, but its truest message may not get to them.

This is all so very known today that poetry online will not gain the same level of credibility and recognition to that of its counterpart prose, but that doesn't stop this writer from penning the deepest of thoughts onto page. You must be silly to think that such an archaic and ancient craft could ever disappear into thin air for all those who thought so, and if anyone ever thought that poetry was some scam of sorts or had no true purpose online, well they are completely and utterly wrong on that premise.

The fact is we are here to stay, we express ourselves in a flurry of differing forms that many so-called normal people or non-poets cannot agree with at times. We make folks laugh writing silly limericks, we cause many heads to twist in bewilderment or make mental back flips too, but one things for certain we do have true staying power indeed.

You can even turn your poems into songs someday, Enjoy!

Try to make your videos relevant

Using videos can help you manifest your creative writing topics, and add to your content.

So if your into being a poet online or creative writer, then try to also get into creating Youtube videos to add to your content as was done up above.

Note: I use video logs to help keep my ideas afloat even if they may not attract many viewers, and this will help anyone who's into creative writing, prose, or even poets.

Being a Creative writer versus just a writer of prose

Creative writers (Powerful article on writing from within) whom are not into poetry also understand such a thing as having the freedom to express oneself, and not just for the monetary values that indeed once had existed in large abundance online. I am also a creative writer who has yet to unleash my wrath onto this online stage and for the world of viewers to enjoy and have the pleasure of reading. I am just getting warmed up!

Those who are stuck and deadlocked into the arena of writing prose may tend to feel confined, this definitely happens to many of those who sense they're having writers block at times. The fact is that not having a multitude of thought powers at hand, can actually slow anyone down, and no matter what they choose to partake in and in terms of having a writing career. This is also why there's so many research experts in the world today, who use copy writing techniques (Not plagiarism though) as a new age approach to keeping their online content publishing careers going.

Authors who decide to stretch their usage of words and into differing areas of diversity using their imagination, can also learn to master more then a single craft, this is healthy for the well being of a talented writer, and spells the opposite of sudden doom for their abilities to manifest itself, and to expand.

Poetry has never been angelic for me. I do feel very ... self-aware when I write poetry though. Unlike fiction it's...true to myself. I feel like this is really not coming out right. Anyway. My applause for you, don't you ever stop writing:-)

@dreamseeker2, Thank you so much for giving this hub of mine a good read, for thinking about things a bit. I write to inspire other writers today, and I do it mainly so I never ever think of quitting myself, maybe if you try steering in such a similar direction you might find what your looking for in your writers voice and ability to get more folks to wanna view it all.

I have no idea what makes people come to my words and all, but it must be because I do my best to help everyone in my path whenever I can. I'm sure you've been doing so as well by sharing and all, but writing helpful articles works wonders as well.

Maybe give it a try, and see what happens DreamSeeker. good luck!

      Oh and Happy Valentines Day.

@ImKarn23, Thank you much Leslie, you and I both know how it feels to write with pure intensity and without fear of anything. I love your style of poetry writing, and as long as it originates from your heart it will be true poetry in my E-book.

I have been contemplating quitting the hubs, while not sure my poems are what people want to read. I am an avid dreamer and romantic at heart, so I tend to write that way. Thank you for this helped me to realize, their may be some who still do like to read my silly poems written of things from the heart and of those dreams within my head in the clouds.

Hola, Mike - my poetic Laurette aspirer! lol..

i read a lot of poetry here on the hub - and have gone from dreading it to loving it..

      i write hubs that rhyme - but - i do NOT consider myself a poet..not for a moment..(altho - a couple of my...d/s poems are getting closer..)

to me - poetry is just one more way to GET THE MESSAGE

i actually call my technique - 'hammer poetry' - cause there ain't no flowers and rainbows about it and - it's usually more in your face than subtle..

      sigh..kinda like me, i guess..

love your 'tude - and i for one - hope you NEVER stop!

      up and sharing, my friend...

Thank you so much Bumpsysmum, Yes indeed the need for originality and uniqueness is the added plus for us poets to unleash our best creative works.

Nice view point and perspective on the matter, I'm so happy that you love poetry as well, its a good thing we have many folks who do today.

I may not be modern or the best writer but I write because it pleases me, if I then please someone else I'm over the moon! This gave me the push I needed to keep going but I don't think I could stop if I wanted to, I wrote my first poem when I was five.

This is a great Hub and poetry is most definitely an art form. It offers so many ways of expressing feelings and happenings and no two people would write about the same thing in the same way, so giving great diversity. Good read, thank you.

Hi @LaThing, its been a minute for sure, but I managed to make my way back to this profile, I was fearing it had gotten a little dusty and all since I was away LOL.

Yup poetry is a one of a kind creative art indeed, and I will never ever throw in the towel, I don't care what anyone thinks, says, or manages to write to try and make me change my thought process on it all. There is no other form of written expression like it in the world. Yup Yup!

Thanks for the cool comment and for sharing with me.

@blondey, Thanks for that careful analysis of my poetry hub style of prose I unleashed here LOL.

I figured I owed this very hub to all the poets out here across the vast spectrum of the World Wide Web. Many of which aren't given due praise for all of their creative efforts they indeed are due today.

One things for sure it feels good to let this one out, and its awesome to be a poet today online. Oh and thanks for the cool comment and for sharing Blondey that was nice of you.

@wayne barrett, Hey man you and I both know the feeling of self expression, and doing it online is no different from doing in in real life in my E-book.

So yup I love online poetry, I love to both read it and write it all day and night long if that's on the menu for that particular day. Plus no one can stop me from doing so neither LOL. Thanks bro for the awesome comment and for sharing with me.

@ignugent17, I'm so happy it has indeed being a inspiring article in your eyes. I did my best to defend my feelings of why I thing I would never ever quit writing poetry online, and till the day I stop breathing. I feel so passionate about my writings as most artists, and writers do.

I care not what others think of me neither, online to me isn't a place to be overly concerned about personal issues anyhow, its a place to share your talents for the most part I do believe. So yup this form of self expression is truly priceless & I'm so in love with poetry. Thank for your cool comment it makes me realize that I'm on the right path with it all.

Well researched or intricately devised, developed, explained. Makes sense, you're using logic to explain the need, and wonderfulness of poetry, of the creative juices that flow from the heart and soul.

Great article and I must say I agree with you totally. I dream like everyone else, and as much as I would like to be published and make money, those things will never be my first priority. I am an artist, not as a profession, but as a person. Its who I am. I play music, paint, and write, and even if there is no one around to applause, admire, comment, or score, its my high!

Poetry is an art form and, as you say, a beautiful expression from within, and even if not one person understands exactly what you are writing about, that is okay. It is just like an artist painting on a canvas, each person looking at it will have a different reaction to it, and that is the case when we paint our words on our blank paper (or in Word nowadays - lol), and that is the way it is. Awesome.

      Voted up ++++ and sharing

God bless. In His Love, Faith Reaper
