Why do we sleep? Tell me...

Updated on October 6, 2011

Why Do We Sleep?

Do we sleep for the rest?

To waste time?

To find our true beauty?

Why do we sleep?

Can't we just work through the night?

Does the sand man have to visit me?

Can't I just stay awake?

Why do we sleep?

To find inspiration from dreamland?

To live a better life behind our eyes?

Tell me...Why do we sleep?

I enjoyed your poem. I have trouble sleeping so this poem is fascinating to me. Thank you.

I find that dreaming is far better than having to face the drudgery of everyday life.

jfay2011 What if we didn't have to sleep. What if energy just came to us?

Poetic Fool I think your answer is a great one. i tend to find my dreams are far better than a reality .

I understand this is a rhetorical question. I think one answer, at least for me, is found in a line from your poem:

"To live a better life behind our eyes?"

I think that is all that keeps us going sometimes. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to reading more of your work.
