Why oh why, do we endure?

Updated on September 3, 2015

How many times

must a heart get broken?

Until we understand

is time to move on?

For how long

must we take the punishments?

Until we realize

we’ve had enough?

When oh when

do we get the courage?

To turn around

and not look back?

Is it the sweet memories?

that stop us in our tracks?

Is it the hope

that tomorrow will be better?

Is it the love

we don’t want to extinguish?

Why oh why

Do we endure such things?

Are we afraid

to start all over again?

Even though we waiver

we must never forget

“The wind of a door closing opens another”

they always open, is up to us to walk through

I love this poem, especially the last stanza: "Even though we waiver

      we must never forget

“The wind of a door closing opens another”

Sometimes memories do hold us in the past and remaining there can often be the easier decision, but not always the best one....thoughtful and reflective poem...very well written:-)
