Why Did You Leave Me (poem)

Updated on June 9, 2015

Why did you go to leave me all alone

What did I do to chase you far away

I wish I knew so I could change that day

Instead of facing darkness on my own

I thought we had such fun amid our play

Such paradises gathered at our throne

We dealt in dreams and pleasures then unknown

There was no notion we would ever stray

But now I sit and wonder where you went

And to the fate of others’ hand you hold

My tears recall what times together meant

And passings which I never saw unfold

In this must my tomorrows be content

That I woke up one morning and was old

      Intensely emotional, Martin!

He is blaming himself but is he sure that she did not leave by her own choice? I voted up and pinned it.

In my early years, I know why lovers left me. In the latter years, I told them to leave. What doesn't fit, doesn't fit. Period. That's when honest reflection needs to happen. Not everyone is meant to be paired. And it's something not many people are willing to admit.
