On the Wings of Birds

Updated on July 23, 2017

If only having wings as a bird, I'd fly,

Greet every new cloud up in the sky.

Feel a cool mist in my smiling face,

Live for the moment, a state of grace.

I'd fly to mountains, their ice blue haze,

Soar over plains in an admiring praise.

Dip and to dive near the oceans of blue,

Accompany the Sea Gulls as they flew.

I'd sit on the rainbow's colorful bow,

Observe all the scenes down below.

Helping paint the dawn's early light,

Overseeing sunset's prelude to night.

In windy breezes, I'd so swiftly glide,

Spreading my wings, in such a pride.

I'd chase away shadows of darkness,

Revelling by the moon's golden side.

I'd sleep in such a calm, a sweet peace,

Dream, my thoughts of flight to increase.

Circling high with eagles in the finest air,

Winging away the time without any care.

When time for all reasoning to take hold,

My visions of flying and its joy to unfold.

I'd stand at my window, a wish I'd make,

For some day I'll fly, or my heart to break.

I think when we are younger the world and its magic motivates these dreams on in our minds. Blessings my friend.

I used to fly in my dreams, when I was a lot younger, legs tucked up behind me and swooping the ground! Sadly, I don't have those dreams anymore. That would be fun!

Wouldn't it be great to fly like an eagle and see the world from such an amazing perspective? Great!

Gorgeous poem. If I had the ability, I would love to fly as well. See the world from a birds eye view. Such a great and fun poem.
