Winter's Sentinel

Updated on January 14, 2017

Alertly, he stands,

As seeming never to sleep,

His post always mans.

Many promises to keep.

All creatures aware,

Is Nature's time of coldness,

Snow flake's crystals fall,

Promotes this season's boldness.

His presence so gives solace,

Watcher in the wood.

Giving wild nature wholeness,

Admiring him, we should.

We also admire him for his loyalty--standing at his post no matter the weather. Short and sweet.

For the last two mornings, I've heard two owls calling to each other in the early mornings of dawn. What a beautiful way to start the day!
