With Ease and Calm: a Poem

Updated on July 30, 2017

Val is a life-long student of the psycho-philosophy of living and a devoted practitioner of many techniques that enhance personal evolution.

Captain of my mind

I sail some quiet seas

to evil I am blind,

feeling all at ease.

With a smiling soul

I'm blazing new trails

and every new goal

somehow rarely fails.

Painless is my life

joyous and fulfilled

without any strife

intolerance or guilt.

All treasures of heart

I found without seeking

just a little smart

as for a modest speaking.

To those who are trying

new trials will be fate

and all hateful crying

only breeds new hate.

So, don't look for your highs

they are already yours,

just unglue your eyes

and step through big doors.

With only ease and calm

life becomes whole

providing that balm

for every aching soul.

Kavitha---Thanks. You are right, and it doesn't really take much effort---actually no effort at all will do its magic.

Well written......ease and calm should be the mantra of life!

John---Thanks for the praising words. Yes, ease and calm seem to be either a lost or yet undiscovered art in this world of chronic tension, hate, and conflict.

Positive and uplifting words, Val. We just need to take life calmly and enjoy all it has to offer without stressing. Well written poem.

MizBejabbers---I agree, it's only that you call it "soul's contract" and I call it "intuition". Too bad we have so many names for the same thing. But even "smartness" was O.K. for my superficial response---because it hinted that no "outside entity like a Lady Luck" is behind "smooth sailing" mentioned in the poem.

Actually, my belief system says it isn't luck or smarts, it is our soul contract. I have frequently made what was a logical and sound decision only to have the rules changed in the middle of the game.

MizBejabbers---With a little humor, I would have liked it better if you had said: "SMART (instead of "lucky") is the person who can sail through life on smooth seas", LOL.

Well, we both know that there is no such a thing as "luck"---we attract what we get. And since we both know it, that's one of those things which make us such good friends.

Very good, my friend. Lucky is the person who can sail through life on smooth seas. And your line is so true: "and all hateful crying

      only breeds new hate."
