With all Flags waving~poem :D

Updated on July 15, 2010

I have reached the end of this race

Tired bruised and scarred to death

Oh life can break my bones

Tear my flesh make me kneel

And yes you can

Take my body away

And rub my face in the mud of dismay

Yet whatever you do

You can never take away my soul

For I was never yours to begin with

And I swear I was born free

With the will of stone

And a mind of my own

To you I might be the dreamer

But to the world I am the wanderer

A master of my own ship glorious

With its waving flags up in the air

And once again you can call me low

Some hurting words and

Unforgivable names

But nasty words can’t inflict pain

For my soul is far beyond

Far beyond you and this world

And so you think you can

Bind me to the floor

And whip me constantly by calling me a whore

With those poisonous words of yours

But  I was never fragile

Never weak

Never yours

And even though my body bruises

My head is always up high

And with all flags waving in the sky

I walk, with a name &

A destiny of my own

Which I am ready to make

Proud in this life

And far beyond

I might have gotten my shares of beatings

Still I walk firmly on this land of trials

With firm footsteps on the wet sand

I make my mark decisively on this little land

Refusing to be washed away

By the little currents that

Sweep our glorious existence away

For I am strong and I

Never back out

For I don’t sway

And I swear I have felt pain

Until I grew to know it by name

Yet the wounds on the flesh must mend

And the heart & soul must learn to bend

AND so life goes on

And we must learn to hold on

Sometimes we laugh

Most often we cry

Yet some beautiful moments always

Keep us humble and grounded

Thus for every pain we must have felt

We must have experienced love

And as despair may poison our veins

Devotion love and hope may fill in

And like the waving flags ready to be

Struck by the lightening storm

Knowing that they might be broken

By the treacherous wind

Know that a bird doesn’t learn

How to fly and escape the flames

If it doesn’t fall and burn first

And just like a phoenix

 Resurrecting from the flames

Swear to GOD that

You will never be a memory

And just like a turquoise marked

And with all flags waving you

Swear to walk this land
