Without Christ

Maurice Bishop, a powerful, spoken word Poet currently serving in the United States Army. Published Author & Motivational Speaker.

I lived my life like an actor on stage so I'll stop acting.

Without Christ in my life I'm in a plane with no captain,

No parachute when I'm crashing,

Because I live for excitement and action like speeding in a car without my seat belt fasten.

And if I'm napping I'm probably relaxing at night in the mist of assassins.

Spirits clapping, celebrating and laughing and attacking my spirit for their own satisfaction,

But without Christ I can't even shout his name to erase the distraction.

Satan kingdom building and never collapsing.

I know in the dark roads I'll probably choose to reap what I sow,

And let sin slice my life like fractions with no one to make me whole.

So I'll probably run around with a hole in my soul.

And when my nightmare shows and began to grow.

I can't even change the channel of my life like t.v. without a remote control.

Without Christ in my life there's no meaning of living.

Like an ear that don't listen, a mind with no decisions, and a car with no keys that you put in the ignition.

Listen I can't be tripping,

Because me on this earth is like waking up without the sun being risen.

No value in my life like Geneva watches when the diamonds missing.

It's even worst when it don't even shine or glisten.

Without Christ I'm like dry land with nothing to rain on.

Climbing mountains without a rope to hang on.

Sickness with no medicine to make the pain gone.

And a rim without even having a ball to bang on.

I'm worthless like going to war with no troops.

No bullet proof,

Guns with no bullets to shoot.

And if it's raining, it's like staying in your house without even having a roof.

Wisdom, I love the imagery here and the rhythm of your poem. I'm one who prefers poetry that has music in it, and yours does.

Its funny, your last image of a house without a roof brought back something from a book I read once. Catherine Marshall is a famous Christian writer who once wrote about her dreams. She said that she had a dream once that her house had no roof on it. She was very ill at the time. That roofless house image is something we all instinctively understand to mean, "danger."

And I agree with you that without Christ, we all live in a "roofless house."

      Up and awesome!

Another great poem, Maurice. I see you are continuing to separate the lines, and I suppose it does help the 'eye' follow it, haha.

Thanks for adding the video again. :)
