Wonderful Fear - haiku

Updated on November 26, 2015

Fear of Relationships

A Haiku is a compact and concise poem which uses imagistic language to tell a story.

Being scared of being in a loving relationship is a massive topic. There are so many things that make wise people cautious when considering a relationship. However when this caution is excessive and much more like fear, it can be isolating and terrifying. These fears are often unconscious and it is important to identify the reasons (with help if necessary) which might range from feeling that you don’t deserve to be loved, to a fear of:

  • Getting hurt.
  • Losing control.
  • Being vulnerable.
  • The unknown.
  • Being rejected or abandoned.
  • The responsibilities of a relationship.
  • Creating a bad relationship similar to the one your parents have / had, etc.

Here is a haiku which attempts to express the many complex emotions in a positive way.

a wonderful fear

body chemistry altered

contemplating love
