World Looks Different (poem)

Updated on August 27, 2017

The world looks very different today

Yet somehow all the colors seem the same

And after all the morning sun still came

A scent of hope is mingled with dismay

-

My heart and soul still suffer from the flame

Which tore the brightest part of me away

And filled it with such pain I can’t defray

As tears of nevermore still search for blame

-

Still flowers bloom and offer up their glow

And somewhere there is music to be heard

As futures are still written in the skies

-

Each breath holds magic dancing in life’s flow

As glories of this wonder are conferred

Yet somewhere in this heaven lover cries

Music only

When we are able to focus on true beauty, nothing else matters other than how to achieve it. With that, comes love and admiration.

Martin, you picture the emptiness and loneliness of a break-up so well in your word-paintings. So well written.

      So sad. But, beautifully written.

My son is going through a break up, after being

with the same young woman for almost five years.

      He hurts so deeply.

      DJ.

So many excellent lines leading to a most excellent poem. I read it several times, and then read several more times with the accompanying music. The poem works just as well either way providing even more evidence that this is beyond well done.

      Best to you,

      Kim

Life goes on all around us sometimes leaving us feeling all alone. But brighter days are always on the horizon!

What makes that time in your life so much more meaningful. You see it all but can't quite capture it. Thanks for the reminder that my day is going to be brighter than it was in those times of sitting on the edge inside the gloom.

I have been in that place. The thing that always puzzled me was that the sun still rose, the flowers bloomed, the people around me seemed to be happy and having fun....Yet, my heart was breaking and my world was falling apart. It has been quite some time since I have been there but I still remember the pain. The good news is that we are resilient....that we can make a decision to start over and to make something of our lives. All things eventually pass and we emerge much stronger and wiser. Thanks for sharing.
