Writing just to write online

Updated on June 12, 2013

I love writing it redefines me

Some people come online looking to become a writer and to earn a passive income doing it. That is a noble cause indeed, but isn't the wisest approach to it all if such a person hasn't done the needed research into how such a online career actually gets its start.

Just like it is with any other career type, writing and becoming a online author of the web takes learning, skills, and knowledge of all the tooling available. It may even take training from a agency, a school system, or program to learn to master, and mainly since the Internet is a highly advanced system of digital components vastly interwoven with programs by programmers who know how to block unwanted content.

This is the reason for much needed skills and a fine tuned understanding of what a writer needs to either know or what they need to do to move forward into such a career. Time plays a major role as well in this gruesome process, and no one will become a overnight success, mainly due to the well known fact that it takes millions of views, and web traffic stats for such sought after success to become realized and delivered to such a motivated writer or content publisher.

I love writing about extreme sports and will do more soon!

Timing is everything

There does indeed come a time where such a person who craves to make it in this online writers industry, also desires to simply begin letting go of all the system constraints and parameters and begin to write for the shear freedom of self expression itself. That's also the time that they will begin to notice the world may start to focus upon them.

This is weird how such an attractive thing occurs, but it may actually happen due to the fact that this person no-longer is following the mode of operandi put in place, and established to keep them from being themselves, such as having to conform to certain set standards of writing only for commercial purposes.

Be careful out here online & stay focused!

There's always going to be peer pressure involved with the online world of writing, jealousy tends to float around at times as well, and misdirection or distractions. What the writer needs to think about is, maybe try to remain more focused on why they came to the Internet to share their writing potential for in the first place, and balance can be achieved thereafter.

Overall their purpose here as a writer may have originally been to earn a potential income stream, but after sometime such a thing wasn't realized, so they possibly began to shift things as a whole to a much more self gratifying cause of writing. Many others may have decided to just up and quit writing online entirely or may have begun to try using various other writers platforms, swearing they would do better there. (The web is controlled by search engines such as Google, and some networking platforms as well which in combination allows for a writers voice to get heard or denied access.)

The fact to the matter is, once you fall completely in love with writing online, as you once done as a person who writes onto paper or on your personal computer. You shall begin to notice this sudden shift of the crowds eyes in your direction, and because you have begun to believe in your writing talent full force, and are now writing from within rather than for the web traffic, or what have you. (Most great writers on the ground have this conflict of interest, and may become quickly discouraged, but allowing time to heal such mental wounds will indeed play in their favor for sure.)

Accessing your true writers voice

Writing from your heart, and sensing your true writers voice isn't as easy as it looks. Doing so can and will help you to channel such a thing and from not only a strong imagination, but also from experiences of realness, hostilities in life, happiness, pain, love, heart break, excitement, creative expressiveness, etc... Then your writings will begin to emerge each and every day into a much more powerful statement to that of the online viewers. This is what I call the "Digital rude awakening."

Many writers worldwide may have hidden agendas, many may simply be here to have fun writing to their hearts desires the things they always wanted to get out into the open, and for self healing purposes or for that of exploring their potential to draw in an active or passive audience. This step is one of a huge move, and mainly due to the fact that once your creativity and thought process has hit the computer screen. People will tend to react to it all in some way or another, and especially if your into sharing it all socially, or professionally on let's say social networking locations, or any professional platform like LinkedIn, or many others online.

It's not about being on a digital thrown all by your lonesome

Sharing is caring today & online

This shift towards sharing your thoughts on the Internet has definitely changed the worlds perspective views as a whole, and the level in which such sharing is taking place today is astronomical, compared to years past. Places like Facebook, and Google+ are just some of the cool places where people are making strides to get the word out, and to make true connections with like minds who may be willing to share their content they do indeed have to offer up.

This new age method of trying to earn an income by means of sharing content with your social connections and even friends or family is quite burdensome at times as well. (Networking is tough these days, because everyone wants to be heard, and not many people are interested in sharing fairly with others, or doing whats right by their peers.)

Balance is the key here in this aspect of things, many folks aren't sure if they should play this networking role hard core, or if they shouldn't. Many fall into self doubt time and time again as to whether any of it is worth the time spent and or invested in it all.

One things for certain those whom are the most addicted are looked upon as spammer types today, which isn't the best tag to be titled at all and in any of these digital arena's or networking locations. (Not seeing good results in anything in this life will become a major deterrent for most individuals seeking to achieve something from their strides and endeavors.)

Writing what you love and enjoy about life and using creativity

By people writing what they're indeed in love with, and despite all the strict given parameters governing online life, its tough reality and circumstances. These sorts of writers will definitively begin to achieve things they once thought impossible, with their word powers and creativity.

Many folks will still tend to go through a rough crash course as writers online no mater what, and some will put up the good fight with hard earnest efforts to produce from that of their creative abilities. You can truly achieve a level of peace of mind, and become well known purely by being yourself in a digital manor of thought as a writer today, if you learn to become more balanced as a whole.

All we need to do is practice our writing, proof reading, and editing techniques over and over again. Getting things right the very first time isn't reasonable though, because the web is ever changing and requirements as well as timing will require you to make adjustments periodically.

Useful Tips

Tip: Writing evergreen content however, helps solidify your articles presence on the web as a whole, mainly due to search engines giving it a greater positioning if it is to receive a good following as time progresses.

Then maybe try to publish a single article per day that originates from your heart, you can even do it as a blogger with no pressure at all, and over time you shall build up a great deal of content to either rework, or redevelop into a differing writing platform.

Tip: Keep in mind if you write an article, or anything on a blog, it needs to be completely removed from such a web location before you decided to move it to another monetized writing platform location. This needs to be done to avoid from becoming a violation of duplicate content of both Google's Laws and such a writers platform.

Those folks who begin to understand that writing online isn't a race to get anywhere, and begin to also refocus on what they're truly putting out here to the audience. Those individuals will soon see loads of success start to pore in, mainly due to such a well balanced effort beginning to peak out, and no matter what subject matter or topics they are to choose from. People from all walks of life are willing to read what we have to offer up, just give it time to reach them.

Drawing creativity from many true to life themes works wonders

The potential to succeed as a writer online is unlimited

You can even go for trying to write your first ever novel, you once thought about accomplishing but never got it going, completed or what have you. If you didn't try that video up above, well its an inspiring message all about getting your novel started online.

It's no joking matter neither, to undertake such a path for your writing career, but it's well worth a try, and is 100% doable. Now that we have so many devices available, and online technologies to support such an effort it is possible to do with great ease. (Your new novel can be instantly converted into a Ebook, and sold digitally on places like Amazon, Google Books, and various other professional writing platforms selling or marketing such digitized books.)

Who knows, by making such earnest efforts, networking fairly and balanced with others, sharing socially and professionally you can become a world renowned success in due time. There's always a chance that even your Ebook you've been working on or already published online, can become the next top best seller worldwide, simply by you yourself becoming a true inspiration to all others worldwide.

Your story can even show up someday on news stands, and they may even write biographies about your life story, struggles and strides to be come a success today, and the likes. Anything is possible today, you simply need to stop getting discouraged and believe!

I believe the basic cause or the underlying pretext of writing .. anywhere is the sharing of knowledge and emotion in the form of literature.

Other things like passive income or good exposure come as subsidiaries.

Every form of writing has some pre-requisites to adhere to

In the case of writing online sharing and support are integral factors for survival as well as appreciation... as you have mentioned in your write.

In a nutshell, online writing should be ethical, supportive, shared and should benefit the people in some or the other way

@schoolgirlforreal , What aspects of this hub you disagree with, please do let me know because judging by your response here, you may have misread this hub or maybe commented on the wrong article.

I mean really? I have no clue where this all is coming from or what point it is that your response is trying to make here, what is really going on Schoolgirlforreal, are you OK? Where is the ego in this hub. Hmmm.... now you got me thinking.

I don't think you need a bachelors degree to write online. Many people write useful articles by their own experience and may be 'born writers' without need for technical teaching. In fact that is the case with many here on hubpages.

I also feel that writing online is a great way to become a better writer especially if you're getting feedback like we do on here.

And there are those who just enjoy writing poetry which is no crime.

It's certainly an enjoyable thing and getting feedback is also important with that as well to see if your writing is getting praise or not, it could lead you to decide if you want to write a book, or not.

All in all, I disagree. Writing is pure therapy and there are many people who use it for that purpose as well.

We are not all here for our egos.

This line stood out to me the most. My initial plan was 'just write a lot and...uh...I'll...uh...cross my fingers.' Awesome article.

Goal setting leads to incredible things. I like your comment on novels being 100% doable. They are. Not that they're easy, but they're definitely doable:-)

You said something early on about coming to believe in our abilities....that, I believe, is part of what defines our writer's voice and what makes us better writers. You have to write as if you believe you are a good writer.....otherwise that magical something will never shine through in your writing. Great hub, Mike, and so truthful. Well done buddy.

      Have a great Easter weekend.
