Yellow Ribbon Poem

Updated on November 4, 2011

Yellow ribbon Dress

A little girl with a yellow ribbon on her dress

Stands in the classroom to tell a story

A story about bravery and love known by few

She stood in front of the class with her head hanging low

She started to cry before the story began

This was father's day and her daddy wasn't there

The kids were whispering because she wasn't talking

They said her dad is a low life that he didn't care

She lifted her head up and began

"My dad is a soldier fighting for us

He is far away right now

He sent me a letter the other day

He told me how much he loved

The cookies I sent for him

That he can't wait to see my face"

She lowered her head again

As she started to cry again

"Even though you can't see him

He is here now, he is watching me

He will watch over me forever

Because he gave the ultimate sacrifice"

All the dads and their children stood and clapped

As the little girl lifted her head and blew a kiss

To her dad in the back

This is so cool and I'm using your poem to convince people to donate to the Yellow Ribbon Fund I hope it will be ok with you.
