Yogi In My Yard

Updated on August 30, 2010

I had a visit from Yogi today,

And he certainly wasn’t just looking for hay.

Cinnamon brown and all in a fluster,

Looking for food or all he could muster.

Out on my deck, muddy paw prints on the glass,

His big furry butt, oh my that’s quite an ass!

Round the corner he went, I think he smelled compost,

You’d think he was dining, does that make me the host?

I ease the door open, camera ready to shoot,

I click the shutter hoping he won’t give me the boot.

He tips the bin over, chewing this way and that,

I really don’t remember, where's my baseball bat?

Shaking like a leaf, I quickly retreat.

I remembered omnivores also eat meat!
