You Are Not Your Skin

Updated on July 14, 2013

Anan is an online blogger and private consultant since 2009 in the areas of relationships and interfaith spirituality.

They say you are not normal

They say you'll never fit in.

A sneer, a joke at your expense

While the pain simmers in your heart.

Being unique is still a crime

just like standing out and different.

Judgement is a double edged sword

that in your mind cuts the same way.

Give the real you, nothing in between.

Be an angel,be a teacher,be the light.

Let them see you are above your skin.

Let them learn who you really are.

Stop wishing you could be perfect

there is no such thing my love

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

and you my friend are beautiful.

Let them know God love us all

no matter what the mirror says.

Let them see the real you

God doesn't make mistakes.

Never mar your work of art

never feel down or displaced

I can see the light in your eyes

the love that only you can give.

There is no need to cry or despair

You see, things will fall into place.

Sooner or later, the pain will pass

And the truth shall set you free..

Stand up tall, go find your way

leave behind bitterness and pain.

Follow your own path, your north

and let the world see you fly again.

It's Just Skin

Love comes in all shapes and colors

Have you ever made fun or bullied someone else?

See results

In a real garden, there are different kinds of flowers. All different, all beautiful and yet the sun shines down on them just the same...

      Harishprasad;

I dont understand the diference between one color or the other. Like watching a group of babies from all over the world, perfection, how can anyone say anything else? A smile is the same in everyone's lips. Blessings my friend.

Anan, our skin speaks only one thing that is color and we should be proud of it be it of any color, black, brown, white or whatever. The color of our skin is our very own and is our peculiarity and is a thing to be cherished rather than to be worried about. You are right that what also matters is inside our dear skin and is a great treasure. It should be hunted out in every individual we come across and we'll become richer thereby. The real use of our brain is to penetrate deep into the recesses of the heart and mind of a co-human being with all love and affection. I love your vision reflected in this very sweet poem. And, the message flashed by you is great and powerful. Loved reading it and yes, voted with all my heart and soul !

I love your statement, "Let them know God love us all

no matter what the mirror says.

Let them see the real you." I believe this is what we have to grasp in order to grow old with grace and true beauty. Thinking of others first is what really makes the difference when it comes to true beauty.

So inspirational Anan. So uplifting and positive!

You're right - we're all beautiful, the skin is meaningless!

I so wish people would hear your wise words - and look within!

      sharing my friend...

      have a great weekend!

Wonderful sentiments. I think being different is just grand to be your own individual self. Too bad that there are people who frown upon the fact that you are not like everyone else. Enjoyed.

The skin is only what people see on the outside; what is in our hearts is far more important. Bless you for pointing this out in your interesting poem.

A very good reminder and well written. I once wrote a hub entitled"When" which expressed my feelings about bad behavior in some. Thank you for sharing this message with us all. whonu
