You Did Not Change Me!
I did not see,
Nor did I really care,
All those times you were never there.
I gave you space,
You spread your wings,
You found someone better than me.
Constantly at the end of the road,
Thinking I could change who you were,
Always working so hard,
Never knowing it was not just you that needed to change,
It was both of us who need to change who we are.
I walked with stride,
I changed my focus on this fight,
Now I was the one to take flight,
Taking nothing but my pride.
You may have changed my world but,
You didn't change me.
It was I who was struggling to change from the start.
It takes a life time trying to figure out who we are,
It is the journey in which we take that decides the course.
We just enjoy the gifts that come our way,
Learn and grow with each victory –
Most of all with each mistake.
It was not really you who changed my world,
It was really me just finding the courage within my heart.
Your world will never change if you stay the same.
I am a rich man,
Not because those piles of money you think I have.
The Ol’ beat up Chevy tin can.
I receive love from Family – Friends,
Most importantly –
From a tall young beautiful Lady and,
From a wee young handsome Man.
