You See (a poem)

Updated on April 1, 2012

When the passion burns out . . .

You see,

I sort of accept the way you are

because that is love

the token of appreciation

that comes from

years together

hearts molded into one.

Surely you must see

that it was all too easy right?

I kept along this guise

even though your eyes

are sometimes mostly full of lies

and you just say whatever

to get me to believe

forgive and forget

the transgression

of the moment.

I know your ways

every single one

it’s never a surprise

what you will do or say

your actions always give you away.

I am nice

so it’s a given

I will understand

make the sacrifice

shift and shape

into what you desire.

Content in your bubble

what you didn’t realize

I was only passing time

dabbling into an adventure

breaking up a monotonous tone

to try it out

for a time or two

for a story to tell

inspiration for my poetry.

What I mean is

your words

aren’t so kind

your touch

not so soft

and your kisses

could be better.

Your ways

aren’t that charming

and your very being

as commonplace as it comes.

Don’t bother ringing me up

dropping by

or sending me a line,

you see

all that has been changed

I’m so beyond

quite passed it all.

There are no words.

I already know

that what you have lost

is what you can't do without.

Though I am sad

to see you go,

I’ll always remember

how you always thought you got the best of me.

I think this poem traces the evolution of a relationship from the beginning to end. Voting this Up and Beautiful.

Some good things never last, there are things that need to end...especially if it's unrequited love...
