Lyrical Poetry

Updated on February 14, 2012
Arrow through the Heart
Arrow through the Heart

You Watched

You watched me sit then you watched me cry

I watched you laugh, then I asked you why

Straight through my heart, you couldn't miss

You absolutely wanted this

But you watched me fall into the abyss

You wanted the thrill of hearing my shrills

you broke my spirit with your deadly skills

I was down, I was lonely and weak

you took advantage of me, of this I speak.

now here I sit, What can I do?

I looked for love, and found no truth.

Love is Not....

So you think that you know love

You think you heard it call you from high above

Love isn't words written on a page

Love isn't a story on a stage

You think you saw a shooting star

You think you could follow it,

oh so very far.

Tell me then, where do broken hearts go ?

Do they melt into the ground

like the fallen snow ?

Do they lie there in a great big pile ?

While people like you walk by

without giving them a smile.

So you think you know what love is.....

Love is never lost. If not reciprocated it will flow back and soften and purify the heart.

      Awesome POEM :-)

      Katrine Dal Monte,

      Why does love hurt?

      Why does love lie?

Why does love make us cry?

Why is love, oh so cruel?

Why do we all want this jewel?

There are many kinds of love. Can a heart that's never been broken ever really know how valuable love is? I don't know but this brought the questions to mind. I love it when a poem makes me think!

@ Eddi, Thank you, you are always ready to give me compliments.

@ Ruby I don't know, I'm still looking for mine? Thanks for stopping by.

@ Vixen my sweets, I am still stunned by your poetry.

Isn't it great when that happens. I don't think that a person who hasn't had their heart broken would understand where a poet comes from when they write about a broken heart.

Even for people who don't really understand love it's such a deep and emotional poem, walking you by hand through the pain of broken dreams and slipped away love... wow, very skillful and I love how your rhyme flows, very poetical!

Beautiful, sad, and intriguing...and yes, love hurts, often, and the pain never is completely gone...sometimes we wonder if it's worth our anguish..common sense screams NO!, but we continue to fall, and fall again.. love u guy...thank you for sharing your tender and loving heart ...

thanks Dotti, you feel me. and i feel you . broken hearts are assorted and come from many different ways not just from a man and a woman but from family and friends.
