You know...A dark poem

Updated on August 14, 2012

I want you to know

That this is harder for me than you

I thought our love would always grow

So right and oh so true

I always planned to grow old

Forever by your side

Never imaging the passion turning cold

Or the many tears that I have cried

Yet here we finally are

All the games said and done

Both hurt and nursing scars

But in the end it’s I who won

So dry your tears

They no longer work on me

After all the betrayal and fears

The real you I can finally see

The monster in disguise

Masquerading as a beloved lover

So cruel and full of lies

I am sure you remember

So now it’s my turn

To end this once and for all

To show you all that I have learned

It’s your turn to crawl!

How does it feel now?

To have my heel in your spine

To have me listen to you howl

To know that your life is mine

So kiss me once again

Before you feel my knife

As I finally end all your pain

My last act as a loving wife

I felt the knife, nothing like a wife's revenge. But you know the games people play on each other often does come down to one or the other pulling out all the stops and ending it dramatically. And it can be a very chilling ending for many.

I to have a few scars from previous marriages, now I know why I am more reclusive and stay away from the opposite sex:-) I don't like the feel of a knife in my back, I would rather see it coming.

Great scribe NightHag, you sure got this Saddle's attention, Ouch.

Love your style. The unhurried manner it surreptitiously sneak up on you before the coup de grace. The long suffering wife turning into a bloodthirsty vamp(ire)...one of the reasons why my wife and I have separate bedrooms :) I also remember to bolt the door from the inside before going to sleep :))

I like this poem, very honest and dark of course. Such deception sometimes drive people to such a state. It is easy to understand the emotion which you have conveyed. Your style of writing is simple but your powerful words surely hit the target!

      thank you for sharing!

Who said revenge is not sweet? The bitter lies in the results of revenge, which may include regrets because we were not able to forgive. Well I don't want to be the one using the knife, but I do wish somebody else will use it. I will do the cheering.

"These boots are made for walking.... all over you" (My favorite Nancy Sinatra song)

      I love this poem :)))

Vicious, cruel and unnerving. You made your point well. but maybe it was deserved.

It is a terrible thing that so many relationships not only endure violence but so often can result in death.

Having got family members struggling through the horror of domestic violence I had to give the building fear and anger a voice,

I am so glad that you took the time to read this, your comments and opinions are so appreciated

Ah the fun of married life, it often seems like the safer option would be to have separate bedrooms and maybe even separate dwellings

So glad that you liked this it's always a pleasure to have you visit

      Thank you so much Malin

I really wanted to portray the ugliness of this situation in a way that many would be able find some sort of understanding of the anger and rage that abuse can breed.

      Again thank you

Revenge is indeed sweet in the moment it's the fallout after wards that keeps us all on the path of the straight an narrow (I hope)

But I have to admit there are times when the thought is almost too tempting, best to follow Nancy's advice and walk

Wow is also the first word that came to my mind. Even without the photo, the energy of the poem is hardened in its anger and as single minded in its motive as it is lethal in its ending. Very nice.
