You moved me ........Poem

Updated on February 1, 2014

You may have passed me sitting on the park bench
and thought nothing of me

Or as I stood at the dance hands in my pockets
my fingers crossed hoping you'd see

Or maybe it was that time I summoned
the courage and smiled with contagion

Or was it the time I gave you my hand
as you climbed aboard that wagon

Either way it seems in the end
I was awaiting your advance

That's the problem with a boy
who never learned how to dance

But you moved me
you really did

I am so ashamed I never let Emily know my love. Yet now 50 years later and four children, I am glad.
