Your Eyes (poem)

Updated on August 21, 2013

Gazing through the windows of your eyes

Shows me why I've never heard your cries

A cynical devil not caring to disguise

Having already fallen to your guise

Your hate, your anger, passion and rage

Are the truths you try to hide

All slain to the wars you wage

There is no light behind your eyes

They cannot mask your contempt

The way you smile when someone dies

As if your soul were exempt

Just a flicker of delight inside your eyes

To the fall of man you cast no objection

Their extinction the greatest prize

Yet all I can see is my reflection

Within the darkness of your eyes

They haunt and torment me

Yet I'm drawn to you

From your gaze I can't break free

You demand and consume

Like a moth to a flame

knowing it means my end

with you I shall remain

My soul to never mend
