Life Goes On

Updated on July 10, 2017

Shannon is a passionate individual whose feelings and thoughts sometimes spill onto the pages in the form of poetry.

A note. . .

This was co-written with another hubber (Cantuhearmescream) a few years ago and we were in the process of putting it to music with another hubber friend when life went on and we haven't gone back to finish it yet. I started this piece with the chorus....even have a melody. We went from there and completed the lyrics. If we ever finish the music to it, I will post it here for you to hear.

Life Goes On

When I'm lost or when I'm found

When I float or nearly drown

Moments come and moments go

What they mean I truly know

More I know this much is true

When I'm happy or feeling blue

There is no end in sight

As I hear these words tonight

Life goes on, life goes on, life goes on

Life goes on

Through the laughter and the tears

Through the many passing years

Life goes on

Ooooh, ooooh, oooh, oh, oh, oh

Life goes on

From the path should you stray

Then always love come what may

When the winds of change have blown

And you're standing all alone

Never fear what's come not yet

Because there's only one sure bet

As the tide comes and goes

Hearts are shaped by ebbs and flows

Life goes on, life goes on, life goes on

Life goes on

Through the heartache and the pain

Through the sunshine and the rain

Life goes on

Ooooh, ooooh, oooh, oh, oh, oh

Life goes on

Life goes on, life goes on, life goes on

Life goes on

Through the laughter and the tears

Through the many passing years

Life goes on

Ooooh, ooooh, oooh, oh, oh, oh

Life goes on

Rally the troops and finish the song. The hardest part is done (at least I think so.) The phrasing already has cadence and emphasis. Get a music geek to tinkle the notes.

Thanks, Demas! You probably notice cadence because I the chorus (which doesn't read so well) came to me in a melody, hence all the oh's and ooooh's that wouldn't' normally be in a poem. I sang it to Cat and had partial verse ideas and so we had an idea of a song as we were writing. I need to contact Lurana and see if she's still interested in finishing what we started when she started laying out the chords and such. Glad you like it. :)

I would love to hear it to music...until then it remains an unfinished part of your heart and soul.

Carry on, my friend! I await the finished product.

I loved this song. I hope you love it enough to give it's really needed voice in music.

If I could write music and make it sound decent, Eric, I sure would have done it a long time ago. Thank you so much for your kind words.

It's a great work. The rhyming is good as far as I think. The oh's and oooh's are very interesting and appeal much when you sing it with a music. I wait to watch it when it gets completed. Please get on it as soon as possible.

My background is composition...I may be able to help with the music. Nice poetic message with strong rhythms.

That would be wonderful!! I do have a melody, but you'd have to excuse my singing. I am not a singer and don't claim to be one even though I enjoy it. LOL. I'm pitchy, I know, without the radio or music especially. And I can't harmonize to save my life. hehehe. That said, I could email you a sound clip if you want.

      Life goes on--So true!

This already has the lyrics and the ingredients of a beautiful song. The rhyme in the first stanza is lovely.

Hope to hear the song soon.

      Thanks for sharing!
