a Mother's Day Text

Updated on May 13, 2012
my Son's Text
my Son's Text | Source

There's nothing finer,

Than sitting in my recliner,

Just resting my sore feet,

Have done my duty for the day within the Nurses' Elite.

For you see, I had to work on Mother's Day

I didn't expect anything anyway,

But I did get a Text from my 25 year old son

And this time I couldn't been more stunned.

As young boys little hands made things for Mother's Day.

Painted rocks and ashtrays made out of clay,

I was really a great cook then I would bake and made stuff that was sweet,

Special candied apples and rice Krispy treats.

Greedy little hands would take what I offered then they'd run

Sounds of Summer with the slamming of the screen door,

I couldn't of asked for more.

With all the many books I read and the scary stories I have told,

Having to be brave and bold,

And having a audience that listened with awe,

Never said 'Thanks Mom 'but that's a kid for ya.

Being a Young woman I had always wondered if I was a good Momma at all.

But the Text that I received on this Mother's Day,

was worth more to me than a Card that he did not write or any Bouquet,

To get the unexpected kindness,

And be surprised with cherished words,

Means more to me than all the Diamonds in the World.

He is 25 now, is that grown?

My son may-well-be for all the tenderness he has shown,

The reader of this may think this is not a big deal,

I am just tickled that he did reveal,

It was just a Text message from my son

Happy Mommas Day

Well thank you,Hun.

You are a blessed woman. I have a 23 year old son, who blessed me with two granddaughters (2 & 4), and I have one daughter who is 28. My son writes poetry and he gave me a book of poetry on Mother's Day, although it was one of his used poetry books, that is just fine.

Thanks. I have three sons, ages 30,25,22. The 30 year old is a Bio-chemist, so he talks more than the other two. Ha. My middle son and my younger one tends to, let's just say that they don't say full sentences. And if they call you on the phone, there is only static :)

So when the 25 yr old text me, I bout' fainted.

I'm glad some other Mothers that understand! Thanks you guys.
