a Mother's Day Text
There's nothing finer,
Than sitting in my recliner,
Just resting my sore feet,
Have done my duty for the day within the Nurses' Elite.
For you see, I had to work on Mother's Day
I didn't expect anything anyway,
But I did get a Text from my 25 year old son
And this time I couldn't been more stunned.
As young boys little hands made things for Mother's Day.
Painted rocks and ashtrays made out of clay,
I was really a great cook then I would bake and made stuff that was sweet,
Special candied apples and rice Krispy treats.
Greedy little hands would take what I offered then they'd run
Sounds of Summer with the slamming of the screen door,
I couldn't of asked for more.
With all the many books I read and the scary stories I have told,
Having to be brave and bold,
And having a audience that listened with awe,
Never said 'Thanks Mom 'but that's a kid for ya.
Being a Young woman I had always wondered if I was a good Momma at all.
But the Text that I received on this Mother's Day,
was worth more to me than a Card that he did not write or any Bouquet,
To get the unexpected kindness,
And be surprised with cherished words,
Means more to me than all the Diamonds in the World.
He is 25 now, is that grown?
My son may-well-be for all the tenderness he has shown,
The reader of this may think this is not a big deal,
I am just tickled that he did reveal,
It was just a Text message from my son
