a letter to granny(RIP)

Updated on February 27, 2010

Dear Granny

I wrote this one on a depressed day on the 15th of August, 2001.  Although my granny had not yet passed away,  I felt like the her disease(extreme Alzheimer's) had already taken her and her soul was no longer thriving.  I actually wrote this and was going to dictate it at her funeral but later decided against it.  I was the first grandchild and her favorite.

Dear Granny,

Do you remember when I was little and tiny

I'd get into trouble and you'd spank my hiny

Well, now that I'm grown up and your life's been carried

Now you won't ever get to see me get married

Although, I have known you all this time

I feel like our bond has always been stopped on a dime

Since you've been gone

All I try to think of is the sun rising, at dawn

Even though you did some things that made me mad

That just makes me this much more sad

Many times, I've tried to forgive and forget

Yet right now, I'm doing it without regret

I hope you like heaven with God and the angels

Because I'll tell you I love you a million times more

Before I let you go

With my heart and soul feeling mangled

She passed away in January 2007, RIP Granny.  Think about you and miss you every day.
