A few more of my poems

Updated on September 28, 2013

What I'm Looking For

If anyone is willing to give any feedback, I would appreciate it. I know that my poetry is free form, so I'm not looking for things like I need a rhyme scheme or anything like that. I just want to know if it's understandable, and not too raw.

If you like what you read, I'll include a link to the actual book down below (the kindle version is free for now). Thank you for taking the time to read this.

What I Meant

I love you
but know I can't have you
so we are going to play a game
where there aren't any winners
everyone loses where I come from
last I saw, you were still home
not that I've been watching
but I know where you are

there's nowhere left to hide
nowhere left to run
the sadness turned to anger
a man in his ruin
I've become what I hate
someone who questions it all
I wonder why you're not here
in my head where you belong
it started when we said goodbye

not because we wanted to
but we had to
they made us do it
and I hate them for that
broken from the outside in
a man robbed of his own mind
my conscience I know I'll never find.

if these walls could talk,
they'd tell a thousand stories
about the lies and heartache
and the truth and the pain.

the wasted years and the wasted tears,
all thrown away in a moment's notice
just so that we can have peace
and quiet for the time being.

where did it go wrong and was it ever right?
mistakes were made, but were they
made from the start or even before
we ever knew we existed?

contemplative hindsight allows a perfect view
of how we stumbled out of the gate
and tripped over ourselves again and again
as we tried to create harmony from discord.

you can't force emotion
and you can't force opinion.
if we'd known this from the start,
we'd have never had a beginning.
