An ode to Artists

Updated on January 10, 2014

Artists are a unique breed....

creating beauty that many

perceive to know, yet...

can not understand

or do not... look behind

the canvas of their work

Seeing only the colors...

they present and the images they see...

from the shaded eyes

of their own mind

Lines, hues... colors of broken dreams

they once held ...

as treasures

now spray.... across the checkered floor

of who.... we all wish we were

Beautiful Michael and only wish there was a more suitable word. So colorful and descriptive. A Rod Stewart video popped in my mind where he is dancing on a black and white checkered floor. (Some Guys Have All the Luck) Always a joy to read you! ^

Michael, I do not want to know a world that has no artists in it. Thank God for the beauty they bring us. Well done my friend.

Your words are as colourful as the artists' work that you describe. Well done!

Very true, Michael. Without artists, the world would be lifeless. Winston Churchill was once asked to cut funding for the arts, and he replied, "Then what are we fighting for?"
