and fear could no longer speak

Updated on April 29, 2014

An honest fear would grow,

and in her eyes it would show,

it was almost pathetic to describe

these fears which can’t truly be described,

but who was to decide,

dark clouds filled the sky,

and fear became pain,

then the clouds would drain,

following with heavy rain,

pounding the earth as it came,

louder and louder with no shame,

lightning flashed,

as the rain would pour,

thunder followed with a loud roar,

beating the sky like a drum,

it gave no notice to rhythm,

her emotions streamed,

she screamed,

until it filled not just her hearing,

but all of her senses,

then suddenly a clearing,

her thoughts plunged briefly into blackness,

she grew restless,

and the fear struck such a chord

of terror in her,

almost to the point of sickening,

appalled but enthralled,

the clouds moved in a slow glide,

the sun was opening wide,

the trees have stopped weaving and bobbing,

her head had stopped throbbing,

rainbows would streak,

she closed her eyes, but she’d peek,

and fear could no longer speak.

hmmm, a real storm? Figurative? A description of the fear of a life out of control? Despair? Hope? Or maybe it's a real storm followed by sunshine. Either way, Frank, it's a beautiful piece of work. voted up.

Gripping, and in my mind, I saw the painting The Scream. As if the release of that sound could call the storm and the cessation send it away. Very vivid piece. Thank you for sharing.
