If writing poems is all one wants to do then it's enough.
Being able to do what makes you happy is life at it's best!

Never limit yourself. Write in whatever genre you enjoy.

Writing is the easy part. Selling it is the real pain.

It depends what your goal is.
In general no, you can write whatever you wish! I have prose and poetry in my hubs. Mainly poetry though, tempted to start on my autobiography too! So writing is limitless if you are publishing it in certain places.

It's enough if that's what you're into, like me

I have posted around 45 poems, which is 90% of my total hubs

My view count is shockingly good...but in general, poetry doesn't draw a big audience

It's up to you. Some people are poets and some are authors, some can be both. I don't think that being one is a problem. It should be enough if that is who you are.

It is certainly enough for me.  I write academic articles for a living but I can often be found neglecting my work to pen a new poem.  When I write poems the words seem to flow out of me and I am never quite sure where it is taking me until near the end.  At that point it is as if I am brought back into the equation to shape the final meaning behind the poem.  I love the whole process.  It always releases me and sets me free.

My partner is a poet, and poetry is the main reason my partner writes on Hub Pages. "Poetry is Life!" Wish I could write as good! So the Answer is - hell, yes!
