What publishing company did you use?  Are you satisfied with the guidance/results?

So far, I've not found a single self publishing company I've interviewed that doesn't have a trail of complaints from authors.  I want to get published, but I also don't want to get "taken".  Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Last time I checked, there's no requirement to go through a company. Self-publishing can be just that-----self publish. You can publish books in Ebook format or even for the Kindle and not a single other company is required nowadays.

Have you tried looking into self-publishing through Amazon CreateSpace?  It is free and you can publish in print or on Kindle  Here is the information. http://www.amazon.com/gp/seller-account … ive=390957  This is how I publish my craft books..

Thank you, craftdrawer.  As a matter of fact, I signed up for CreateSpace yesterday.  I would also, however, like to be published in actual book format.  I've got my work cut out for me!

Cagsil:  I've interviewed 3 self-publishing companies, all of which charge exhorbitant fees for their services.  The feedback I'm getting from complaint sites is they don't come thru with their promises.  One even has a complaint of plagerism!  I'll keep searching.  I'll find my way.  No doubt.

On a whim I got "Love Believes All Things: A Love Story In Verse" published. I had no idea who to use. I knew I was not a known author nor did I have an agent. I needed a publisher that I didn't have to pay any money with because I am retired and had no money. I chose PublishAmerica and they have been good to me. They have a helpline for those who are published so questions can be answered. I learned alot about publishing a book in the doing it. First I learned that unless you are a recognizable name a company, ANY company will not invest a whole lot of money in you. They will publish but you are the one that will have to promote it. PublishAmerica offers promotion in chopped up pieces so that you can choose which place you may wish to have your book promoted. For instance they published my book, they listed it in Amazon, Barnes & Noble's. They contacted the media for me with copies of the book for them to review. But to put my book on eBook I had to pay a small fee, one time. It was small but that put me in a whole other arena. There were other promotions where they did the work but for a little more. The thing is I had no money so some of the things I would have wished I could do I couldn't . But I am very happy with PublishAmerica and for a first time author with no agent I highly recommend them. I intend to use them for my next book that I hope to present to them at the end of next year. I hope this helped. Robert Smith (No body)
