My experience has been that the best way to break into Freelance Writing is to find any reputable platform you can and use it to get your work out there. Write about what you know and are passionate about, use social networking and real-life personal connections to grow readership, and once you are comfortable in your writing style and abilities send samples of your work to news publications and freelance agencies both online and in your town. Be polite yet persistant. If one article you submit fails, try another. Make yourself and your work known, network, and be kind to other writers and publishers and your jobs and readership should multiply quickly.
