    Sometimes people ask for something we're not comfortable with giving because it's risky. For instance loaning someone money who may or may not be trustworthy. Establishing healthy boundaries is difficult when you expect resistance if you say no.

    When others depend on you too much and you need to refuse for their benefit even though they don't see it that way, anxiety may spring up. Until you actually spit the word out "no," do you hash over and imagine what their reaction is going to be?

    Yes. Feelings of responsibility with our kids can hinder them from facing the consequences of their own decisions though. I'm improving on this. It's not as difficult now to say no to my kids as it used to be. My husband is a different story!
